The Keelung Temple Night Market (KTNM) is located in the busiest area of the Ren ai District, Keelung. With a train station nearby, travelling to/from the KTNM is extremely easy. Following the efforts made by the Night Market Council in 2001, electric wires and pipelines that clogged up the streets of the KTNM were moved underground. Located on Raohe Street in Taipei s Songshan District, this market runs for 600 meters from Fuyuan Street to Ciyou Temple, parallel to Ba De Road Section Four. The name Linjiang Night Market might be unfamiliar to many Taipei residents, who are more likely to refer this popular night market to it by its more common name, the Tonghua Street Night Market, which was a popular shopping area long before the market was given its official name by the city government in 2000.
Also known as the Wenhua NM, this market is located near Feng Chia University in Taichung s Situn District along Wen Hua Road and Fuhsing Road. It extends along Wen Hua Road as far as the Chijian Night Market, making this area home to Taiwan s largest night market cluster. Located at the edge of Taichung about 20 minutes from the city center, no one expected this area to thrive like it has. Later, during an expansion project, room was left open on the side of the temple and leased to vendors. Later the government enlarged the space allotted to the vendors and attracted restaurateurs to the area, thus laying the foundation for today s Myaudung Night Market.
Formerly known as Ta Kang Pu Night Market and little more than a collection of snack vendors, this market grew during the late 1940 s and early 1950 s into Kaohsiung s most popular NM. Since 1987, the Liouho NM venue has been open only to pedestrians This market specializing in foods from around Taiwan might not be as well known as other night markets, but if you re looking for cheap and delicious food, it can t be beat! In 1960 vendors began congregating around the Kwang Hwa Theatre on Kwang Hwa No. 2 Road, gradually forming three separate markets: one on either side of Kwang Hwa No. 2 Road and one behind the Kwang Hwa Theater. Like its more famous neighbor Liouho Night Market, Kwang Hwa is famous for its food and inexpensive durable goods, and its location adjacent to the department stores in Kaohsiung s major shopping district ensures plenty of foot traffic.
Located inside Nanbin Park, during the day this area is filled with beachgoers, but in the evening it transforms into a bustling night market offering something for everyone, from carnival games to fresh seafood and other treats. Every evening around nightfall the vendors gather around the park turn on their lights, and Luodong NM comes to life, with several dozen shops and rows of stalls selling a wide variety of authentic Yilan cuisine starting at NT$50, everything from medicinal mutton soup, pig heart noodles, rice noodles in broth, hot and cold beverages, stuffed rice dough balls, rice cakes, stewed chicken, roasted octopus, and roasted corn. Located underneath Yilan s Donggang Bridge along Shenghou Road and Hemu Road lies Dongmen NM. Once limited to a small area inside Sanjiao Park, it has grown along with the surround area to become a popular and vibrant NM.
