COMMUNITY COMPETITION YOUTH DIVISION A - AGES 3-6* DIVISION B - AGES 7-12 DIVISION C AGES 13-18 *BLUE RIBBON CATEGORY THIS YEAR All youth in Division A (ages 3-6) can make a cow head on a paper plate and decorate it any way they want to. We will attach those plates to sticks to put into straw bales for display. The cow heads can be colored or they can be made by cutting out parts and pasting them on the plates. Imagination is encouraged! PLEASE NOTE NO ENTRIES REQUIRING REFRIGERATION WILL BE ACCEPTED CHECK-IN Must have completed entry form at time of delivery. Drop off & Pickups located at the Nellie Weaver Hall. DELIVERY OF ENTRIES All non-perishables Tuesday, August 29 th 2017 from 12-7PM All Floral, Garden and Culinary and all other entries Wednesday, August 30th from 12-6PM All entries need to be in by 6PM so that we can get everything ready for the judges. PICKUP FOR ALL ENTRIES Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 from 1-5PM. Entry receipt is required for pickup. JUDGING Judging will take place on Wednesday after all entries are received. All decisions are final. CREATIVE WRITING SHORT STORY OR POEM 1 entry per youth, typed and double spaced on 8 ½ x 11 paper, no longer than 3 pages in length. 7. JEWELRY Entry can be a necklace and earring set, or bracelet and necklace set, or individual pieces. 8. CULINARY ARTS 3 to 6 items cookies or cupcakes per entry, placed on 7 to 9 paper plate, covered with plastic wrap or in sealable plastic bag. Index card with recipe needs to be turned in with entry form. 1 cake or pie per entry on paper plate wrapped with plastic wrap, with recipe. 9. SEWING NEEDLEWORK CROCHETING KNITTING 1 item per entry per youth, marked with name on card. 10. POTTERY AND CERAMICS 1 item per youth. 11. PRESERVED FOODS/CANNED FOODS Jams, Jellies, Preserves, Pickles, Relish, BBQ sauce all in 6-8 ounce jars, labeled as to what they are. You must use either water bath method or pressure canned method. On label, tell what item is, what method was used and processing time. Place your name on bottom of jar. No paraffin seals. Use mason jars for this division. Leave headspace in jar of ¼ inch. 12. FLORAL Exhibitor s choice specify theme, and old time country bouquet or nosegay. No artificial flowers or foliage, or fresh fruits or vegetables in the floral arrangements. Entry size maximum is 2 x2 x4 (length x width x height). 13. VEGETABLES See adult entry rules for classes 14. FRUITS See adult entry rules for classes 15. FRUITS OR VEGETABLES MOST UNUSUAL SHAPE 16. FRUITS OR VEGETABLES - LARGEST ITEM 17. CORNUCOPIA OR BASKET 18. LEGOS- 1 entry per youth, no bigger than 12 x 12 x12 with a secure base. 19. PLASTIC MODELS- 1 entry per youth.
