What is the Jamie Galloway Crawfish Boil? The 6th Annual Jamie Galloway Crawfish Boil is a spring crawfish boil and block party which celebrates the life and times of a beloved chef and musician, Jamie Galloway to benefit the New Orleans Musicians Clinic. Anchored by the legendary Maple Leaf Bar, the event has grown in popularity over the years; in 2017 more than a thousand guests were entertained on two stages by more than 50 of New Orleans finest musicians (George Porter Jr., Alvin Youngblood Hart, Flow Tribe to name a few). Over 2,000 pounds of crawfish and all the fixing are boiled by Jason and crew of Seither s Seafood. The success of the Jamie Galloway Crawfish Boil grows each year and has been called the most anticipated event before Jazz Fest. We look forward to having your company aboard for the 2018 festival. About the Organizers NEW ORLEANS MUSICIANS CLINIC The New Orleans Musicians Clinic has provided care to musicians and performing artists in New Orleans for more than 19 years. We offer occupational and comprehensive health services for and musicians, performers, cultural workers and tradition bearers in New Orleans (Mardi Gras Indians, Social Aid & Pleasure Club Members). We serve any patient over the age of 19 and their family, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. THE JAMIE GALLOWAY CONNECTION James Jamie Galloway III, a musician and chef beloved on Oak Street, was 41 when he passed in 2012. Originally from Alexandria, Galloway made his life in New Orleans providing his friends and fans with two staples of assured happiness: good food and good music. A fiber in the fabric of the New Orleans music scene for the past two decades, Jamie played alongside Dave Jordan (Jamie Galloway Crawfish Boil music director), in the band Juice, providing harmonica, percussion and vocals. In addition to spreading happiness through music, Jamie made sure everyone around him was well fed. This festival honors this love via its tasty crawfish boil. As was Jamie, the New Orleans Musicians Clinic is an integral part of this city s music culture so it is fitting that through this event they are forever linked. NEW COMMUNITY PARTNER We are proud to be partnering with the Dames de Perlage a Mardi Gras group dedicated to preserving the art and history of the perlage (beading) used in the carnival costumes of the kings, queens, maids and Mardi Gras Indians. The Dames have been instrumental in raising awareness for hurricane relief via charities and collected donations. We are honored the Dames will be a big part of the Jamie Galloway Crawfish Boil in 2018 by coordinating event support and volunteer supervision. KIDS TENT As the Jamie Galloway Crawfish Boil continues to grow, we want to include the entire family. The kids tent will feature activities for the kids such as drawing, face painting, hula hooping and more as well as adding kid friendly food.
