Lithgow Produce Markets Market objectives Lithgow Produce Markets have been established to achieve the following outcomes: Provide access to quality local and regional produce Provide local and regional producers with a market outlet Establish a positive income stream for the City of Greater Lithgow Mining Museum Inc Stallholder Requirements The principles in this charter apply to Lithgow Produce Markets. Dates & times Markets will be held on the third Sunday of each month. The dates for the 2007/2008 financial year are as follows: o 21 October 2007 o 18 November 2007 o 16 December 2007 o 20 January 2008 o 17 February 2008 o 16 March 2008 o 20 April 2008 o 18 May 2008 o 15 June 2008 Trading times will be 9:00am to 1pm. Location Markets will be held at the Lithgow State Mine Heritage Park. Inside stalls will be available primarily in the Bath House and outside stalls will be available in the grounds of the Heritage Park. Sites will be allocated prior to the market day and each stallholder will be notified of their location. Vendor requirements Lithgow Produce Markets are to include the following: o Farmers and Food Producers of quality regional produce, Selfpropagated plants, seeds, small live-stock, organic fertilizers, worm farms, flowers and personal care items from own-grown primary produce. o Craft Market. All craft items must be made by the seller/s. No second hand goods or white elephant merchandise are to be sold at these markets. The region includes the local government areas of Lithgow, Blue Mountains, Bathurst, Hawkesbury, Oberon & Mid-Western Region. Neighbouring areas may be permitted at the discretion of the Market Coordinator. Priority will be given to those producers closest to each market. 1
Lithgow Produce Markets All produce must be sold by the person, family member, farm colleague (at the discretion of the Market Coordinator) farm-based employee who grew, reared, caught or made it; i.e. a principal producer or representative who is directly involved in the production process. Re-sellers are not permitted. (The exception under particular circumstances is local producers selling on behalf of other local producers but the prior permission of the market management committee must be first obtained). Priority will be given to producers of fresh seasonal produce and value added local produce. Value added produce is to be of a high quality and derived primarily from the vendor s property or from within the geographic boundaries identified above. Cooked foods should be of the highest quality and where possible utilise local produce - preferably from other stallholders. Any products being sold as organic must have, and display, proof of certification. Any second grade fresh produce must be labelled and priced accordingly. It is strongly recommended that stallholders be members of their local food group. Every stall shall be clearly identified and named. All produce must be clearly labelled and clearly priced. Where applicable prices should include GST. Produce should be offered at fair, market-driven prices that reflect the quality &/or specialty nature of the goods sold. All prices are to be clearly marked. All local, state and federal government regulatory obligations must be met and compliance is at the responsibility and expense of the stallholder. The minimum labelling requirement for processed foods is contact details including street and phone number, best by date, a Nutritional Analysis Panel and all ingredients in descending order. Recycled packaging of any sort cannot be used. All stallholders must hold a minimum $10million public liability insurance and product insurance where applicable. Proof of such must be presented to the market organiser prior to attendance at the market. Any business that is providing a value-added and/or processed product must notify the NSW Food Authority. Lithgow Produce Markets On the day all stallholders are responsible for bringing all their own equipment and leaving the stall and communal areas clean and tidy. Wine tasting by vignerons is allowed at the Lithgow Produce Market, but the number of stalls is limited to three (3) at any one time. Any change from this is at the discretion of the Market Coordinator. We will do our best to maintain regular stall sites but cannot guarantee this. Stallholders must register their intention to attend in advance and also their inability to attend if booked in. The Market Coordinator will inform stallholders of the best way to do this. The market is run for the benefit of the community reasonable cooperation with market management and other stallholders is a condition of participation. Stallholders must be set up and ready to trade comfortably before the advertised market starting time. Stall-sites cannot be kept for latecomers and repeated late arrival will result in cancellation of stall registration. Vehicles must all be in place or in designated parking areas half an hour prior to the market start time. Stallholders are asked to be particularly careful at all times when driving within the site. Stallholders may not pack up before the end of advertised trading, unless with the permission of the Market Organiser. Stallholders must not interfere with museum exhibits and artifacts located within the Bath House or in the grounds of the State Mine Heritage Park. Failure to abide by any of these conditions may result in exclusion as a market stallholder. All decisions regarding eligibility will be decided by the Board of the City of Greater Lithgow Mining Museum Inc and with reference to the Market Coordinator. On market day the Market Coordinator has the right to uphold the charter and request that any items in breach be withdrawn from sale or any noncompliant stalls be requested to leave. Any such incidents will subsequently be reported to the Board of the City of Greater Lithgow Mining Museum Inc. Any formal complaints, suggestions or requests for variations to the charter must be made in writing to the Market Coordinator. Stall sites will be $30 each outside and $35 each inside the Bath House or in other covered spaces within the State Mine Heritage Park. Powered sites are available within the Bath House at a cost of $40. Payments to be made when booking a site for the markets. 3
Lithgow Produce Markets Electrical leads and equipment used in conjunction with any powered site must be tested and tagged for safe operation in accordance with the requirements of the NSW Occupational Health & Safety Regulation. Bookings will be accepted up to One week (seven days) prior to the market day, to allow for site allocation and notification.
