March 11, 2011 Newsletter Patriots The s Annual Convention has been scheduled for June 1 st to June 4 th of 2011 at the Grand Vista Hotel in the beautiful panoramic foothills of Simi Valley, California. The Grand Vista Hotel has gracefully opened its establishment for our convention with a room rate of $93.50 per night which includes all taxes. They will provide a complimentary breakfast for our attendee s. Other amenities include free parking, complimentary soda, coffee or beverage coupon each evening, High Speed internet in each guest room, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center, Vista Restaurant and room service, Arena Sports Grill and Bar, Gift Shop, complimentary local transportation to the Reagan Library and other points within the city of Simi Valley. There is a restaurant at the hotel and within about 8 blocks there is a shopping mall with major restaurants available. Friday afternoon June 3 rd is being scheduled as free time for everyone. We are making arraignments with the Reagan Library for free admission to the Library. Transportation will be provided. We are also working on other possible sightseeing tours. And for you golfers there are several courses in the area. The hotel will accept reservations with guarantee rooms until May 11, 2011. After that they agreed to honor the room rate but by space available only. So please make your reservations early. The convention schedule is: Wednesday June 1 st registration Noon to 6:00 pm. Wednesday June 1 st Department Finance Committee meeting 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Thursday June 2 nd Joint Opening Ceremony 9:00 am (Class A dress) Friday June 3 rd 9:00 am Meeting continues to noon. Friday June 3 rd Afternoon Free Time Saturday June 4 th 9:00 am Meeting continues hoping to be completed by early afternoon. Saturday Evening June 4 th Convention Dinner with social hour beginning at 5:30 pm Sunday June 5 th Departure. The Grand Vista Hotel is located at 999 Enchanted Way, Simi Valley, CA 93065. The registration fee this year is $35.00 and a late registration fee of $45.00 for all registrations not posted marked by May 20, 2011. The Dinner is $45.00 per person. See the Dinner Entrée for your choices. Please get your registration in early to help the Adjutant and Finance Office of the Department complete their paperwork easier.
So mark your calendars for June 1 st to the 4 th of 2011 for attending the Annual Convention of the,, in Simi Valley, CA. Please pass this information along to other Patriots, Associates and Ladies Auxiliary within your Chapters and Units and urge them to attend to make this the largest attendee s for a convention. Don t forget to get your registration in early to avoid an extra fee for the convention registration. Also if you remember last year Commander Tadlock started a new recognition for the Chapters. Whatever chapter brings the most attendees from their chapter to the annual convention will have a plaque added to the master plaque showing the chapter and year. Currently Chapter 2001 of Redding, CA was the first entry on the plaque.
