CALL FOR ENTRIES DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 15

WELCOME Welcome, wineries! Over the past two decades, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC) has grown to become one of the world s most respected and highly publicized wine competitions. The competition has established itself as a platform for large and boutique wineries alike to showcase their wines on a national scale and increase sales. We are excited this year to include Canada and Mexico to the 2019 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition- now the largest wine competition of North American wines. Another major change to the 2019 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is only requiring four bottles for judging from wineries versus the six bottles in former years. We have become more efficient in the judging process and wanted to save our wineries the added cost of the entries and shipping costs. The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition will once again reward wineries with plaques for silver and higher awards- one of the few competitions that go to the expensive plaque for winery recognition of current vintage wine awards. Entries will be accepted from now until November 15th, and the wines will be evaluated in the first week of January. We encourage wineries to go to winejudging.com for information about the competition, or they can go directly to enofileonline.com for immediate registration and entry. In cooperation with Northern California s largest newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGATE, the SFCWC will provide heightened exposure to the award winning wineries in 2019. Wineries will once again achieve wine award exposure through additional media outlets including print, radio, websites, blogs and social media. All awards will be listed online at winejudging.com throughout the full year. After the judging is complete, wineries also have the opportunity to pour their wines for the large and prestigious San Francisco Bay wine consumer demographic at the 2019 SFCWC Public Tasting at Fort Mason Center, which takes place Saturday, February 16, 2019. This is an invaluable opportunity to network with one of the largest wine consumer demographic in the world- the San Francisco Bay wine consumer. We are very proud that consumers use the SFCWC as a tool to educate themselves and measure the quality of premium wines. Most importantly, the prestige of being a SFCWC winner and the heightened exposure to the media means that wineries will see increased sales. VALU E ADDED Why participate in the 2019 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest competition of North American Wines? Inclusion in the first competition of the year. Your wines are judged by distinguished and competent judges from across the country who are drawn from the media, education, trade and restaurant/ hospitality industries. Multiple price ranges and varieties are judged separately to find winners in each category. Downloadable wine award stickers available for wineries point of sale marketing programs. All awards recognized on competition website www.winejudging.com and in major press releases. Gold and above are included in a 30+ page special section in the San Francisco Chronicle, readership of more than 1.7 million. Gold and above are included in SFGATE, 30 million unique users each month. The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the definitive competition for American wines. To win a medal here -- to stand out in a crowd of 7,000-plus submissions -- is an enormous accomplishment for a winery, and can play a crucial role in establishing its reputation. Esther Mobley San Francisco Chronicle Wine, Beer and Spirits editor PUBLIC TASTING FEBRUARY 16, 1-4PM FORT MASON, SAN FRANCISCO Wineries have the opportunity to reserve tables at one of the largest public tasting of wines in the country. The Public Tasting is Saturday, February 16th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason, SF. San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Supports College Wine Programs One of the few major competitions that award wineries large size plaques for silver and higher wine awards. DON T MISS THE Reserve your table now The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition annually donates the competition s leftover wines to various collegiate enology/wine studies programs.
