January 6, 2016 January Saint St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, Virtue - Integrity A look at upcoming activities: Friday, January 8 Mass, 8:00am Wednesday, January 13 Mid-Terms sent home! Friday, January 15 Mass, 8:00am Monday, January 18 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day NO SCHOOL!!! To all St. Nicholas School Families, Welcome back to reality! I hope you all had a wonderful break and enjoyed the time with friends and family. I know the struggle of getting back to normal after being away for an extended period of time and I hope the transition back is going well for all of you. Next Wednesday (1/13) your child/children will be receiving their Mid-Term reports for the second trimester. Please make sure to look at them and discuss them with your child/children. The Mid-Terms will need to be signed and returned to school by Friday of next week (1/15). Scary to think that this marks the halfway point of the school year! Starting this week, the Second grade will be collecting lose change for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through their Pennies for Patients program. Look for the change boxes to come home this week. We appreciate any and all participation in this fundraiser. The students will have a kickoff assembly this Friday afternoon. We have a school goal of raising a little over $2000 and the class with the highest turn in (on average) will be rewarded with a pizza party. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers for my family over the break. James is recovered from his surgery (tonsils and adenoids) and is back to normal. Ms. Fightmaster is recovering well also and will probably be back with us on the 19 th. Also thank you to those who were so thoughtful with the Christmas gifts for me. My family and I appreciate everything. Here s to a happier and healthier 2016! KEEP READING, THERE IS MORE!!!------------------------------------
One final thank you to our school community I heard from the folks at St. John s that your response to the request for items for the Whitener family was simply amazing. The folks there said that the family was so very thankful and appreciative of everything they received. I know there is another communication today from St. John s, but I wanted to thank you all also. Whenever there is any sort of way to help others within the greater community, our SNA community continually steps up to the plate and gives. Your response to situations like this awes me every time and I just want to express how much that means to me and to the greater community. I simply can t say thank you enough to those who donated whatever items they could so another family can get back on their feet. This is such a great testament to you and your families. THANK YOU!! Thanks for all you do! Sincerely, Mr. Jason Fightmaster Principal St. Nicholas Academy

December, 2015 Dear Families and Faculty of St. Nicholas Academy, Your generous response to the Whitener Family in their time of need has been inspiring to say the least! At a time when we are all running crazy preparing for Christmas celebrations so many of you took the time to unselfishly reach out with prayers, gifts, gift cards, and money to ease the Whitener s burden. You truly are a shining example of Christian Stewardship at its best and I am very proud to be a member of an S.N.A. covenant parish. Thank you for renewing my faith in the Christmas Spirit! May God bless your families in the New Year! Mrs. Laura Davis, Pastoral Minister St. John the Evangelist Parish, Deer Park
