The Queanbeyan Market: Stallholder Contract and Information The Queanbeyan Market runs on the third Sunday of each month. 9am to 1pm Queanbeyan Town Park, Lowe St The Queanbeyan Market aims to support and showcase local farmers, artists, designers and makers. All stall holders will be subject to approval, with preference given to local, handmade or homegrown products. Stallholder acceptance is at the sole discretion of The Queanbeyan Market Management, and will be based on the information given by the applicant on the booking form. Factors taken into consideration include the quality of products, the diversity of range at any given market and stall availability. The Queanbeyan Market reserves the right to require the stallholder remove products which are not at an acceptable level for market sale, or which differ from the business description supplied on the application form. It is the responsibility of the stallholder to ensure they conform to any safety and compliance standards pertaining to their product. We encourage you to put some time and creativity into making your stall visually appealing and unique.
Stall fee Stall fee is $30 per 3x3m site. If you have exceptionally large products, or require a slightly different space for your food van, set up etc, please note this in the additional comments section of the booking form. Stall fee must be paid in advance, through bank deposit or in cash at a prior market. Once your booking has been approved and processed, an invoice will be sent. Market Morning Setup The Queanbeyan Market is located on the Lowe St side of the town park. If arriving by car, enter Lowe St and unload at the parking docks by the park. Market Management will direct you into the park to unload where appropriate. When setting up, please take care to leave as minimal an impact on the park as possible. Marquee tent pegs and such should be carefully utilised. If you are driving onto the park grounds, you are required to have hazard lights on at all times, and drive no faster than 10km/hr. Be aware of other vehicles and people in the vicinity. The Queanbeyan Market Management will direct stallholders to their site on the morning of the market. No discussion will be entered into regarding position. Permanent stallholders are sometimes allocated with consistent positions - while we endeavour to facilitate this where possible, understand that due to various factors your site location is not guaranteed. All boxes, tubs and associated setup paraphernalia must be removed from view during market opening hours. Queanbeyan Market staff will be onsite from 7am to direct stallholders to their designated site. Stallholders are to arrive no later than 8am, and bear in mind stalls must be ready for business by 9am. Bump out The market concludes at 1pm. If there is a steady through crowd, we are happy to remain open longer. Do not begin pack up until 1pm, as this affects the atmosphere of the market, and deters customers from remaining or entering the market. Weather The Queanbeyan Market is an outdoor market. If you are not comfortable trading in occasional adverse conditions such as wind, heat or light rain, these markets may not be suited to
you. Stallholders who do not arrive on a day when the market proceeds, due to their own consideration of weather conditions, will not be issued with credit for a future event. Market Cancellations The markets are only cancelled on days of bad weather, at the sole discretion of Market Management. If the decision to cancel is made prior to the commencement of market setup, a message will be posted on The Queanbeyan Market Facebook page, and in the Capital Events Stallholder Alerts Facebook group. Stallholders can also call Adam (0451 121 448) or Veronika (0402 033 703) to confirm trading or cancellation. If the market commences and the weather deteriorates during the day, Market Management will make the decision of when to cease trading, at which point pack-up of the markets may commence. If a market is cancelled prior to opening, stallholders will be issued with credits for future events. The Queanbeyan Market does not offer refunds. If a stallholder does not arrive at the market on a day they have booked a site, no refund or credits will be offered. What to bring Stallholders will need to bring all that is required for their set up. This may include marquee, tables, chairs, umbrella and any relevant weather protection. We suggest tie-downs and sandbags to secure umbrellas/marquees and clear plastic sheeting to cover products in the event of light rain. Insurance The Queanbeyan Market is insured with Public Liability to the value of $20m. This insurance does not, however, indemnify the stallholder against their individual liability and we suggest stallholders look into acquiring their own public and product liability insurance policy. Operational Information Power is available for selected sites. This incurs an additional $5 fee. If you have booked a powered site, please remember to bring extension leads and adaptors if required, keeping in mind your stall may not be directly backing onto a power outlet.
For safety reasons no naked flames are permitted. Toilets are available for use at the entrance to the market space. All rubbish, waste and packaging must be taken away with the stallholder. Council bins are NOT to be used for stallholder rubbish. No smoking is permitted in the market area. Stallholder Behaviour Stallholders are required to act in a professional and courteous manner at all times. As representatives of The Queanbeyan Market, we expect that stallholders be friendly, approachable and helpful to patrons and other stallholders alike. Bringing the market into disrepute, negatively influencing the public, customers or fellow stallholders, behaving in a negative way towards Market Management or disregarding instructions may result in stallholder removal from the market and banning from future attendance. Promotions through social media The Queanbeyan Market offers promotions in advance of market days. There is space on the booking form for promotional information and images, and you can also submit via info@capitalevents.com.au Businesses will be promoted at the discretion of Market Management, and stallholders are not guaranteed coverage. We are happy to share giveaways, competitions, special offers and more, pending approval. Contact us directly to discuss these options.
