July Special Events Sunday, July 16 th at 2:30 PM National Ice Cream Day The third Sunday of every July is National Ice Cream Day a holiday declared by President Ronald Reagan back in 1984 to promote the economic well-being of the U.S. dairy industry. It was a nod to the fact that the frozen treat is produced using nearly 10 percent of U.S. dairy farmers' milk supply. Reagan's proclamation also called on the people of the United States to do their duty and pay tribute to ice cream with "appropriate ceremonies and activities." So who are we to argue? Thursday, July 20 th at 3:30 PM New Neighbors Meet and Greet Can you remember how you felt when you first moved to Carmel Village? You looked around and thought how on earth am I going to remember all these names? Well, here s a perfect opportunity to put names to those faces you see around the community. Each month we have an afternoon social to welcome our new residents to Carmel Village. The new residents will introduce themselves and talk briefly about where they are from and family. Please take some time to introduce yourselves to them and welcome them to their new extended family at Carmel Village. Refreshments will be served. Wednesday, July 23 rd at 11:00 AM National Hot Dog Day National Hot Dog Days are celebrated in communities throughout the hot dog-eating world, including the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Australia. Their origin is obscure. As the name suggests, the festivities revolve around eating hot dogs and socializing with friends and family. So what better reason do we have then to enjoy the summer in the courtyard with one of Americas favorite fast foods. Saturday, July 29 th at 3:30 PM July Birthday Celebration Please join us in the as we celebrate our July birthdays. This is a great time to see who shares a birthday in the same month as you.
