Food, Wine & Culture Summer Schools 2018
PURPOSE The Summer Schools Program will take place in Portugal, in our Schools and will provide participants personal, social and technical skills which will enable them to gain specialized knowledge in portuguese gastronomy and wines. GOALS Turismo de Portugal Summer Schools will allow to those enrolled to: Enrich their careers (all students will be awarded a Training Certificate by Turismo de Portugal Schools) Experience the best that Portugal (Europe s Leading Destination 2017) has to offer Gain theoretical and practical skills Develop a professional network and expand cultural horizons
PROFILE /ACCESS CONDITIONS Trainers Degree students from Culinary Arts Management, Heritage Management, Hotel Management, Tourism Business Management, Tourism Event Management, and Tourism Retail and Marketing Management. Young adults with complete high school 12 years of schooling, preferably with a background in hospitality and tourism Candidate selection according previous CV analysis DURATION/NR. OF PARTICIPANTS Schedule: from june 2nd to june 17th Program Duration: 2 weeks of Full Workshop - up to 64 hours of training Participants: minimum 15; maximum 25
COST/INCLUDED SERVICES Estimated Fee per Student: 1.500 Training program and visits Field trips (local gastronomy and/or wine producers visits) Trip to Lisbon (trip and accomodation only) 24 hrs. emergency contact Official and personalised kitchen uniform: culinary jacket, 2 hats and 2 aprons Final Certificate Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner (excluding trip to Lisbon/weekend) Accommodation (double room) Shuttle Service from and to the nearest airport to the school Accident insurance in the training context Laundry (up to a defined maximum plafond) NOTE: Students must have, and prove, that they are entitled with an health insurance

TRAINING METHODOLOGY Classes will be held in English language Training sessions will be taught using active learning methodologies and practices with dynamic and innovative teaching resources (educational films, case studies, storytelling, etc.) Presentations by tourism entrepreneurs, experts and partners The program has a strong hands-on, practical work experience carried out at our Schools and local partners facilities During the program, students will receive a practical immersion course in Portuguese gastronomy, as well as european pastry and cultural classes. They will also attend seminars and tastings of Portuguese wines and European beverages At the end of the training, trainees should perform a final test (written test or group work), in order to prove skills consolidation acquired throughout all training
CERTIFICATION By completing the entire course students will receive a Training Certificate in Portuguese Gastronomy and Wines. If attending the training course in modules, the student will receive a Certificate of Attendance, referring the modules successfully completed under the Summer School Program. The programs here described may be adapted or altered considering the number of students, the chosen location, and/or circumstances not under the control of Turismo de Portugal Schools.
