Carrie Sowden, Archaeological Director at the National Museum of the Great Lakes will explore a brief history of shipping on the Great Lakes that lead up to the impressive Edmund Fitzgerald. The Fitzgerald had an exciting life during the 18 years that she sailed, often carrying record breaking loads. Her loss on November 10, 1975 still puzzles many to this day. We will explore several of the prevailing theories on her loss. Carrie Sowden, is a graduate of Emory University, as well as the Nautical Archaeology Program at Texas A&M University where she earned her Master of Arts in Anthropology. Carrie s areas of specialty are historical archaeology and waterlogged artifact conservation. During her career as a nautical archaeologist, she has worked on shipwreck projects in Maine, Florida, Alabama, Virginia, Portugal, the *Due to demand, no shows and cancellations within 24 hours, will be billed* **All reservations will be put into tables of 10.
