Executive Summary We are comparing the cafeterias on the UNT campus to find the best location. The problem we are trying to solve is which location is the best to eat at. Based on our criteria Bruce is the best dorm overall from our surveys and data. iii
Introduction During the previous week, we have studied the convenience and quality of UNT Dining Halls. We have studied the operating hours, seating capacity, food quality, and wait times of the Dining Halls. We have also asked UNT residents which dining halls they prefer and/or eat at most frequently. 1
Methodology How we did our Research and Conducted our Study We tested each aspect of our empirical data at each cafeteria. We picked the locations for our survey by choosing an unbiased location for our subjective data. Our location was an equal distance from each cafeteria and was in a location with a large diversity of students. We ranked each cafeteria from 1 to 5. (5 being best, 1 being worst) How we Gathered our Information We collected the operating hours, wait time, distance from the center of campus, and seating capacity from each cafeteria. Each person in our group collected information from a cafeteria. We found the operating hours and distance from the center of campus online. We timed how long it took to get through the serving lines. We found the seating capacity in each cafeteria from the manager as determined by the fire marshal. We performed a survey at the Pohl Recreational Center and the Willis Library on the UNT campus. The questions we asked for the survey were: - - - Which cafeteria do you visit the most? Which cafeteria is your favorite? Which cafeteria is closest to where you live? Options and Criteria we Chose We started with a survey to get subjective data from a large group. We picked operating hours to show which cafeterias would fit each student s schedule. We picked wait time to avoid lateness. We picked distance from central campus and seating space to show the accessibility. Reason we have Limited our Options and Criteria We chose to not to test the temperatures of the food due to the lack of time and equipment. We chose not to pick a specific food because the data would have been mostly empirical. We chose to not include calorie information due to the lack of data available from the cafeterias. 2

Conclusion Even though Kerr had a higher overall score than Bruce, we recommend that students dine at Bruce Hall because it is centrally located and has the highest quality food. In addition, our survey found that Bruce was the preferred dining hall by most students, and it is accessible from anywhere on campus thanks to its central location. 8
