Created by artist Sven Vestergaard, this is the 11th in the series and as always displays the year. On this year s plaquette, also designed by Sven Vestergaard, love is in full bloom. The couple only has eyes for each other on their way through the beautiful, snow-covered streets of Næstved. Hotel Kirstine stands before them a 250-year old timbered farmhouse known as a romantic getaway for lovers, which has served as the setting for many happy weddings over the years. Bing & Grøndahl 2017 The Bing & Grøndahl Christmas plate is the world s oldest decorative plate and was issued for the first time in 1895. This year s motif by artist Dag Samsund is the 123rd in the series and also adorns the plate, bell and drop. Father has gone to cut a Christmas tree and the family is waited in anticipation for him from the windows of their warm, cozy living room. Soon, when the tree has been brought in, they will decorate it and put the family s Christmas star at the very top. That s when Christmas has finally arrived. On this year s Mother s Day plate the rays of sun reveal the close bond between the orca mother and her calf. In the orca s lifelong flock, the females look after their calf well, and the young orca can swim safely in the water under the protective fins of its mother. The plate is the 49th in the series designed by artist allan Therkelsen. It is fine cuisine on show, when the young chef cooks for her brother and teddy bear. The Children s Day Plate is the 33rd in the series and is designed by artist Sven Vestergaard.
