The event, open to the public, is presented by Tacoma chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE), Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC). Ticket sale proceeds will benefit Sara Myron and her four children. Myron, a chef, is a member of the Tacoma Chapter of NACE. Myron recently lost her parents on May 14, as her late husband was the Pierce County sheriff's deputy who fatally shot his mother and father in law and then self. The event, open to the public, is presented by Tacoma chapter of NACE, ABC, and sponsored by Eventco and AA Party Rentals. The barbecue cook off features several South Puget Sound barbecue companies that will cook and serve their best pork and chicken barbecue for guests. Judges and guests will judge the food and winners will be awarded judge s choice and people s choice trophies. Other event food includes grilled hot dogs, nachos and popcorn. There will be a beer and wine garden. Large scale carnival toys such as bounce houses, trampoline trapeze, peddle cars, super slides, a mechanical bull, and others will entertain children and adults. There will also be pony rides. At this outdoor event, there will be several large tents, so the event will continue if there is inclement weather. Eventco field is located at 7213 45th St. Ct. E. Fife, 98424. Tickets will be sold at the event: $20 adult, $5 child, free to children younger than five. Adult entry fee includes food tickets. Additional food tickets are $1 each. Nems Scarim, owner of Three Chicks Catering and event chair, estimates attendance to be approximately 700 1000. Is there any media coverage for my company included? Nems Scarim and Emily Cook will be recording and airing :30 radio spots on KVI and KOMO promoting the event. Who else do you have on the hook for coverage? Updated 5/21/10: Asks have been made and will continue to be made for publication print space but are not currently secured. A major food company is currently considering donating meat for the BBQ portion of the event. Board and General Membership of both the
local ABC and NACE chapters are tasked with promoting the event at local chambers of commerce, other industry organizations, etc. The event is being promoted through NACE and ABC organizations websites and members, as well as through social media outlets, primarily facebook and twitter. AA Party Rentals and Eventco are major in kind sponsors. Several other board and general members of each chapter will be sponsoring their services and products in kind as well to bring everything together. When and where is this again? Spaces will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis 2. Contestants may begin arriving and cooking at noon on June 22 nd 2010 3. All contestants responsible for their own set-up and break-down 4. All contestants must have and post proof of proper health permits for off-site cooking 5. Entry forms are due June 11 th 2010 (please include check made out to NACE / ABC) 6. Tents / Tables provided by individual contestant 7. Each contestant must provide enough food for 100 people a. 4oz samples given to both guests and judges b. Provide enough for 50 people chicken & 50 people Pork 8. All meat MUST BE cooked ON-SITE. Marinating and seasoning meat before transport is permitted 9. Contestants may not share equipment. Each site must have a separate pit and pimaster assigned. 10. Contestants not allowed to sell any BBQ, however, samples and extra BBQ may be given away. 11. Rain or Shine contest will go on. Prepare for all weather conditions. 12. Each team required for clean-up of their space. All hot coal s and ashes should be disposed of properly not on the ground or in the trash cans on premise. 13. The chief cook / pitmaster will be responsible for the conduct of his / her team. 14. Decisions of the committee chairs and judges will be final 15.
