To adjust the grnd, turn the graduated knob whle the grnder s operatng; the numbers on the knob ndcated the fneness of the grnd. Every machne s factory-regulated to a medum-szed grnd; turn the knob to lower numbers to obtan a coarser grnd, turn the knob to hgher numbers to obtan a fner grnd. The varaton n the fneness of the grnd wll be noted only after three or four coffees have been dspensed. Use blends of coffee beans for espresso machnes. Avod usng extreme grndng settngs (e.g. 1 16); n these cases use dfferent blends of coffee. Store coffee n an artght contaner n a cool, dry place. You should adjust the fneness of the grnd when the coffee s not dspensed properly: Coffee pours out too fast = excessvely coarse grnd > set knob on a fner grnd; Coffee drps out slowly and/or not at all = excessvely fne grnd > set knob on coarser grnd. 5.2 Dose adjustment 27 The machne allows you to adjust the amount of coffee (dose) to be ground accordng to your requrements. To dspense coffee, you must dscharge some water by turnng the steam knob (6); the dsplay wll show D J M = J A H L A H J A F A H = J K H A When the message L A H J A F A H = J K H s A no longer dsplayed, you may cut off the flow of water by turnng the steam knob (6) clockwse. The machne returns to the normal operatng status; the dsplay shows: I A A? J F H @ K? J H A = @ O B H K I A 8 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE 8.1 Basc cleanng Mantenance and cleanng may be carred out only when the machne s cold and dsconnected from the power supply. Do not mmerge the machne n water and do not place any of ts components n a dshwasher. Do not use sharp objects or aggressve chemcal products (solvents) for cleanng. It s recommended that you clean the water contaner daly; fll the contaner wth fresh drnkng water. Clean out the coffee bean contaner before refllng t. Use a soft cloth mostened wth water to clean the machne. Do not dry the machne and/or ts components n a mcrowave and/or conventonal oven. Clean the machne compartment and the dspensng unt, we recommend emptyng out the dregs box every day (1). The coffee dspenser (4) may be removed for cleanng. Pull t out and thoroughly rnse the dspensng channels wth hot water. 8.2 Dspensng unt The dspensng unt (14) must be cleaned

Cleanng and mantenance - Descalng every tme you fll the coffee bean contaner or, n any case, at least once a week. Turn off the machne and pull out the plug. 37 Remove the dregs box (1) and drp tray (2), then open the servce door (13). 35 Take out the dspensng unt (14), holdng t by the handle and pushng the PRESS button. Use hot water only, wthout detergents, to clean the dspensng unt. 36 Make sure that there are no coffee resdues on the two steel flters. You may remove the upper flter by unscrewng the plastc pn wth the wrench provded. Thoroughly wash and dry all the parts of the dspensng unt. Replace the flter and use the wrench provded to tghten the plastc pn frmly nto place. Thoroughly clean the machne compartment. 38 Holdng the dspensng unt by ts handle, ft t back securely nto place nsde the compartment. Then close the door and set the dregs box and drp tray back nto place. 9 DESCALING Descalng s necessary to remove lme scale from all surfaces and holes, thus ensurng a perfect operaton of valves, heatng controls and other mportant parts. Note: due to the complexty of the coffee machne hydraulc crcut, the followng descalng cycles (automatc and standard) do not allow the descalng of tubes. In fact, easly accessble components such as the central unt (14) and ts 33 plastc connecton are excluded. The machne must be descaled every 3-4 months, accordng to the water hardness degree. A more frequent descalng s recommended wherever the water hardness degree s very hgh. In case of hard water, a flter should be used both to mprove the coffee qualty and to protect the machne, thus reducng the descalng frequency. Note: for ths purpose, use a descalng product sutable for coffee machnes. Never use vnegar to clean the machne; t mght damage t. To facltate the above operaton, the machne dsplays a message whenever t needs descalng: @ A? =? E B O H A = @ O B H K I A The machne wll contnue to dspense coffee, but should be descaled as soon as possble. Descalng may be performed ether manually or automatcally by the machne tself. 9.1 Conventonal descalng Wth the machne off, mx the descalng soluton n the water contaner n a proporton of 1:1, followng the drectons on the package. Place a contaner under the steam/hot water tube (5) and slowly turn the steam/ hot water knob (6) counterclockwse. Press the man power swtch to turn on the machne and dspense approx. 3 dl of descalng soluton through the nozzle. Set the knob (6) back n the ntal poston. Agan press the man swtch to turn off the machne and allow the soluton to act for approx. 5 mnutes.

34 Descalng Repeat the above steps two or three tmes untl the descalng soluton nsde the water contaner has been completely empted through the nozzle. After descalng, thoroughly rnse out the water contaner (7) and fll t wth fresh water. Turn the machne back on and rnse t thoroughly by dschargng water (approx. 1.4 ltres) through the steam/ hot water nozzle. In ths manner you wll elmnate any resdues that mght alter the taste of the coffee. The machne s agan ready for use. To clear the message @ A? =? E B O press the MENU/OK key to go back to the programmng mode. Wth the or key, selecton the functon I E C = @ A I? = and actvate t wth the MENU/OK key. The messages G K = J E J O M = J A H A B J G K = J E J O J H A =? D A @ and! wll be dsplayed n turn. Press the MENU/OK key. The H A I A J @ A I? = E C message O A I wll appear. Press the MENU/OK key agan to clear the scale meter. 9.2 Automatc descalng Before startng the ntegrated descalng program, prepare the descalng soluton n a proporton of 1:1 accordng to the drectons on the package and pour t nto the water contaner. Press the MENU/OK key. Wth the or key, select the @ A I? = E C functon and actvate t wth the MENU/ OK key. Place a large contaner (mn. 1 ltre capacty) under the steam/hot water nozzle and slowly turn the knob (6). The =? D E A E I message @ A I? = E C wll be dsplayed to ndcate that the automatc descalng cycle has begun. It wll be carred out at ntervals untl the message @ A I? = E C B E E I D A @ appears. Agan turn the knob (6) and press the MENU/OK key. The message H E I A =? D E A wll appear. Now you must thoroughly rnse out the water contaner, fll t wth fresh water and place t back n the machne. Once agan, place a large contaner under the steam/hot water nozzle and slghtly turn the steam/hot water knob. Allow the entre contents of the water contaner to flow out slowly through the nozzle untl the message H E I E C B E E I D A @ s dsplayed. Close the knob (6). At the end of the descalng operaton, ext the program by pressng the MENU/OK key. The message M = H E C K F wll appear. Note: the duraton of the descalng and rnse cycle s about 40 mnutes.
