TRANSFORMATIVE TRAVEL ADVENTURES presents A Wine & Garden Experience in South Africa > January 26 February 2, 2013 An EXCLUSIVE invitation to delight your palate invigorate your mind transform your perspective

TRANSFORMATIVE TRAVEL ADVENTURES Wine & Garden Experience in South Africa > January 26 February 2, 2013 I am a part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is an arch wherethro Gleams that untravell d world whose margin fades For ever and forever when I move. (Alfred Lord Tennyson s Ulysses) At MonkeyBar Management, we believe that travel can be a truly transformative experience that when we go beyond our borders and physically expand our horizons, our minds and spirits open as well. By not just seeing a destination as a tourist, but rather by immersing yourself in it, you choose to carve a place for it in your heart and are forever changed. For more than 15 years, I have specialized in creating innovative small group travel experiences, delivering truly authentic interactions and meaningful and exclusive experiences. In 2013, I am pleased to partner with native South Africans Roy Goslin & Dianne Ferrandi of Z Wines USA to create a completely unique wine and garden tour in South Africa, featuring some of the most breathtaking sights in the region. The Western Cape of South Africa is visually stunning: the spectacular beauty of the land here is mesmerizing and a photographer s dream. This 6-day, 7 night trip stands head and shoulders above any of the standard tourist options because you will be truly welcomed by the locals into their homes and gardens on this intimate and luxurious Western Cape VIP tour experience. We will be visiting at the end of their summertime, just as the vines are heavy with fruit and wineries are prepping for their harvest season. We will have personal tastings and visits with 10 wineries in three different areas, and the intimate connections you will make with some of the most renowned winemakers of South Africa will be memories for a lifetime. On behalf of Roy & Dianne, I look forward to welcoming you to a transformative travel adventure on the Western Cape of South Africa! Kellee Magee O Reilly Transformative Travel Adventures by MonkeyBar Management

Program Itinerary: SATURDAY JANUARY 26: Arrival at leisure, Cape Town. The group will be accommodated at the Five Star One & Only Luxury Hotel conveniently located at the V&A Harbour area in Cape Town. SUNDAY JANUARY 27: The group sets off for our first day together exploring Cape Town, Cape Point, and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. After a return to the hotel to refresh, our wine experience kicks off with a five course Cape Legends Wine Dinner, featuring the winemakers. MONDAY JANUARY 28: Today is a full day excursion to the wine centers of Paarl and Durbanville, including three wineries representative of the region. We will be hosted at for an elegant tasting lunch and in the evening finish with casual hors d oeurves, before returning to the hotel. The evening is at leisure, you can explore the V&A Harbour area on your own for a fish & chips quayside, or a stop for a beer and live music outside at the twin pubs featured in the movie Invictus. TUESDAY JANUARY 29: Today takes us to Stellenbosch, comparatively the Napa of South Africa a region dense with literally more than 100 wineries. (Our whole week could have been spent here!). The University here specializes in Oenology, and we will visit at least four wineries here as well as a short tour through the quaint town itself. We will have wine experiences with both lunch and dinner while here in Stellenbosch and return back to the hotel well after dark.

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 30: We re leaving Cape Town today, heading to the charming fishermans village of Hermanus, known as one of the foremost whale watching destinations in the world. We will stop enroute for lunch at a winery, have options for afternoon recreation, and be hosted at a Winemakers Dinner in a cellar to welcome us to the region. THURSDAY JANUARY 31: Today in Hermanus, we will explore two of the region s signature wineries as well as an optional visit to the Fernkloof nature reserve, where more than 1600 species of vegetation and 90 species of birds live. You will have time on your own in the evening to explore the charming village for shopping and dinner. FRIDAY FEB 1: Departing after breakfast, we will make our way back to Cape Town stopping at some of the charming seaside towns along the way for the full coastal Cape experience, and return to the hotel in Cape Town in plenty of time to freshen up before our memorable closing dinner together on the beach. SATURDAY FEB 2: Scheduled personalized transfers to airport.

The Wine Microclimates of The Western Cape: Our adventure will be an in depth exploration of the wine lands of the Western Cape: Overall, the Cape wine lands are mountainous with distinct micro-climates that favor wine grape growing and wine production on the slopes of the surrounding mountains and hillsides. The climate is Mediterranean with warm, dry summers and cool, moist winters. The effects of the maritime breezes provide a cooling influence and the Cape is somewhat cooler than its latitude may suggest. STELLENBOSCH Stellenbosch is one of the most intensively farmed areas of the Cape wine lands and features some one hundred and fifty wineries. Some of SA s most famous producers are located in this area. The climate is predominantly influenced by cooling breezes off of False Bay, maps very closely in temperature distribution to Napa and prime vineyard sites are located on the slopes of the surrounding hills and mountains. The harvest will come into full swing by the middle of February. Featured Wines: Chardonnay, Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage, Shiraz

PAARL The Paarl region is located some twenty five miles north of the center of Stellenbosch and forty miles inland from Cape Town. The region is somewhat warmer than Stellenbosch. It can be hot during the day but experiences a significant cooling effect in the evenings. The prime vineyard sites are located on southerly facing slopes. The warmer climate results in the harvest being a little earlier than Stellenbosch. Featured Wines: Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinotage, Merlot, Cape Vintage (Port) DURBANVILLE The Durbanville area is located some seven or eight miles from the Atlantic ocean and about twenty miles inland from False Bay. Both of these bodies of water play a role in the cool growing conditions in this area. Several of the farms were established in the late 1600 s and the historical look and feel remains even though the area is threatened by encroaching urban development. Harvest are generally some two weeks later than Stellenbosch and Paarl. Featured Wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Gewurztraminer (dry) OVERBERG / WALKER BAY (HERMANUS) The majority of developments in this area are relatively new with most being established since the early 1980 s. The breezes off the southern ocean play a distinct role both in vineyard development and wine styles. Vineyards are generally located on south facing slopes and in some instances receive severe buffeting from the wind. Farming conditions are generally tougher than most of the Cape. Recent harvests are beginning to show the promise of this maritime climate and some of the Cape s rising stars are located in this area. Harvest can run as much as one month later than the Stellenbosch and Paarl areas. Featured Wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir

Program Investment: This exclusive transformative travel adventure is $6900 per person, double occupancy. (Single pricing is available upon request). Your investment includes: > Transportation to and from the Cape Town International airport > 7 nights lodging at luxury properties (5 nights Cape Town, 2 nights Hermanus) > Breakfast each day and all group lunches and dinners as outlined on the itinerary > Complete tastings at 10 wine farms and personalized visits with winemakers > Transportation via luxury coach and full refreshments available throughout > Assistance of two tour hosts and local guides > Entrance to all tourist venues throughout the trip > Gourmet meals inclusive of wine/beer/beverages of your choice and gratuities Additions: If you re going all the way to South Africa, we strongly recommend spending at least three to five extra days exploring beyond the itinerary that we have outlined. To make your trip as seamless as possible, we are proud to partner with INDRI tours, our trusted full service South African travel agency based in Cape Town. They specialize in mammal experiences, and will be happy to craft personalized recommendations for a 4-night luxury safari lodge experience, or trips to other notable African destinations (like Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe). Reserve your space today: complete the enclosed reservation form and include a nonrefundable $5,000 per couple deposit (check or credit card). Deposits are due by August 1 and the balance of the tour fees are due by October 1. The tour has space for only 10 couples, and reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. (Deposits are refundable only in the case of the room being resold.)

Travel Details: Transportation: Transoceanic travel to and from Cape Town is not included in the pricing. All transportation once you land in Cape Town (airport transfer and coach travel throughout the itinerary) is included. Documentation: Admission into South Africa requires that you have a passport with two blank facing pages and valid for six months after your visit. A special visa is not required if you are a US passport holder. Immunization: A travel physical is recommended for all travelers (easily obtained from your doctor or a walk-in (Target, etc.) clinic. However, here are some guidelines: If you are traveling directly into and out of South Africa (not stopping in other African countries along the way), you are not required to have any specialized immunizations, though with any travel, you will want to make sure your routine MMR/DPT/Polio vaccines are up to date. Any additional vaccinations for the more rare Typhoid, Rabies, or Hepatitis are optional and a personal choice. You will find CDC issues travel advisories for each country. The link to the South Africa page is here: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/ destinations/south-africa.htm. For any international travel, we also recommend traveling with Immodium or (other OTC anti-diarrhea medicine) as well as obtaining a preventative prescription for Cipro or other antibiotic to have with you just in case. The Western Cape is not a malaria-exposed region, so you will not need prophylactic oral anti-malarial medication. If you are adding a safari adventure to a malaria-exposed region (like Kruger National Park), we do recommend considering an anti malarial. Your doctor can advise you. All facilities that we will use for the tour will have access to medical care should the need arise. OTHER QUESTIONS? We strongly recommend considering travel insurance, and we will provide you with recommendations with your tour confirmation. It is our goal to ensure that your travel experience is inspiring, educational, and transformative as well as hassle free! No question is too small, we look forward to serving as your guides and advisors. As we get closer to the program, a full introduction package, packing list, and FAQ will be provided, but until then, don t hesitate to get in touch with us: Kellee@monkeybarmanagement.com or Roy@Zwinesusa.com We look forward to sharing this transformative travel experience with you!
