Travel Arrangements We will be departing from Lawnswood school on Saturday 11 th November at 03:30 hrs by coach. Departure at 10:50 Eurotunnel Arrival to Calais and transfer to Koblenz Arrival at hotel at 18:30 hrs Travelling around Cologne will be done by coach
Departure and return to school We depart on Saturday 11 th November All students must be in school for 03:15 hrs to be registered and make a prompt departure We return to school on Tuesday 14 th November at 23:45 hrs (approximately) Punctuality for both these days is of utmost importance
Passport and EHIC card Before travelling, all students must hand in their passport and EHIC card to main reception to Mrs Lindley Please, make sure the passport and EHIC card have not expired All students must have these two documents or they will not be allowed to travel If there are any issues with this, please let us know at the end of the meeting
Baggage Each student should bring one suitcase and a rucksack/bag Only 4 days therefore students do not need to bring a very big suitcase
Clothing We are away for only 4 days Please ensure students have appropriate clothing. i.e. comfortable footwear for walking and comfortable clothes. The weather can be quite cold and therefore students should prepare for this. Students should bring a coat, hat, scarfs and gloves to ensure they are not cold when walking around Suitable sleepwear for cold weather Students should bring their own toiletries as these will not be provided by the hotel Towels will however be provided
Accommodation Hotel Scholz Koblenz Recently renovated, 3-star hotel offers comfortable accommodation. Rooms functionally furnished with everything we need for our stay
Rooms Shared rooms (likely to be triples) En-suite facilities Air conditioning / heating TV (to practise your German)

Activities during our stay Day 1 Koblenz We will arrive at Koblenz at 18.30 hrs approximately. Check-in and dinner at the hotel.
Activities during our stay Day 2 Cologne Full day visit to Cologne, including its famous Cathedral! Cologne is the fourth-largest German city and it is a major cultural centre. Cologne Zoo Chocolate museum
Activities during our stay Day 3 Rhine and Rudesheim Boat trip on The Rhine Visit to Rudesheim with cable lift to Niederwald Monument, which celebrates the unification of Germany. Free time in Koblenz
Activities during our stay Day 4 Bruges Visit to the amazing Belgian city of Bruges before travelling back home. We will get to walk around Bruges and try their world famous chocolates and waffles!
And obviously Speaking lots of GERMAN!
Spending money The currency of Germany is the Euro and students do not need to have that much money with them in order to have an enjoyable visit. However, it will be necessary for them to have money for lunch everyday and dinner the last day
Meals Day 1 evening meal at hotel (students to pay for their own meals or bring their own for during the day, whilst travelling) Day 2 Breakfast and dinner provided (students pay for their own lunches and drinks throughout the day) Day 3 Breakfast and dinner provided (students pay for their own lunches and drinks throughout the day) Day 4 Only breakfast provided (students to pay for lunch, drinks and any snacks they might want on this day)
Keeping in touch Two staff will have school mobiles. Students will have the number for these so will always be able to contact us if necessary. The department Twitter account is @Lawnswoodlangs. We will be tweeting pictures and updates whenever we can. Please follow us! IF your child brings a phone or other electronic items these are THEIR responsibility school cannot be held liable for any loss/damage.
Medical Forms Tonight it is very important that you complete and hand in the medical forms at the back of the hall, if you have not done so already. Please, hand this in to Ms Lindley on main reception or to any of us tonight Please make us aware of any allergies/intolerances, important medical information, special dietary requirements and also, up to date contact numbers (landlines as well as mobile numbers) Your child will not be allowed to travel without a medical form
