REPORT FOR TUESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER 350 New Season Lambs A little harder work this week to sell lambs at the premium we have been seeing. Processors say that they are having a difficult time selling their product. However, weight and finish still pays to realise the highest price for your lambs. Light lambs lacking in meat are really only a pound or two above the strong store lambs price, if you put your unfinished lambs in the fat, you and someone else will be paying two lots of levy to AHDB who many people feel don t advertise lamb as they should. If you have any to market please contact Alastair 07885 804450. 5 Lights 2 pens of light lambs forward today from E Taylor selling to 153p or 45.90 for 30kg lambs. 141p 43.71 153p 45.90 145.71p 44.59 16 Standards Topping at 166p for 37.5kg lambs from JM Ballard, 163.5p from Buckingham Boyle for 38.5kg lambs and 157p for 34.5kg lambs from E Taylor. 157p 54.17 166p 62.95 163.09p 60.45 255 Mediums Celia Plunkett topped at 181p along with top price of the day for a pen of 14 Charollais weighing 42.5kg and realising 76.93, Tim Withers saw the next top price at 180p or 73.80 for his 41kg lambs, Brian Pile topped at 170p for his 40.5kg lambs, Rollo Deutsch and JR Hodgkinson topped at 168.5p for 44.5kg lambs or 74.98, lighter lambs from Roger Righton topped at 167p for 42kg. Per head heavier lambs topped at 75.53 for George Dancer. 161p 64.40 181p 76.93 167.49 71.10

59 Heavies Celia Plunkett also topped in this category with 48kg lambs at 168.5p or 80.88, and 80.16 for the same weight Suffolk lambs. Rollo Deutsch topped at 167.5p for 46.5kg lambs, George Dancer topped at 164.5p or 78.96 for his 48kg Charollais, next top went to Buckingham Boyle at 164p for 48.5kg lambs, M Digweed topped at 163p for 47kg lambs. 153p 75.66 168.5p 80.88 165.34p 78.96 15 Over 52kg Topping at 95.20 for a 70kg Ram lamb from Baylis Farming, 84.50 for a 65kg lamb from SJ Matthews and George Dancer topped at 80.59 for a pen of 13 Texels. 130p 80.59 153.5p 95.20 150.13p 81.82 129 Cull Ewes & Rams Prices a little steadier than recent weeks, perhaps due to the leaner ewes entered. Topping at 81 for a pen of 8 Suffolks from John Minshull, 2 Texels topped at 79 for M Ironmonger, JR King topped at 75 for some lesser types, Rollo Deutsch topped at 75 for a pen of Charollais.
