After student drop-o, buses may park in the large lot located east of Farrington Field (see map). Please note, street parking in neighborhoods adjacent to the Museum is not advised. If changes are made to bus parking location, fees, etc., the museum will inform you and your group upon receipt of such changes or at time of drop-o. Chaperone Parking: Individual vehicles are welcome to park anywhere in the cultural district however fees are applicable in every lot. Parking in the Museum Lot is $10.00 per vehicle and is available on a first come first served basis. Please pay for parking inside the Museum. Spaces are limited. Parking at the Will Rogers Coliseum or the Heritage Parking Garage is on a timed/graduated rate and can vary from $3 - $10 contingent upon length of visit/time parked. All parking in the Cultural District is owned by the City of Fort Worth. Chaperone Support Guide Thank you for taking time out of your day to help chaperone a field trip to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Your role is crucial in your child s educational experience and safety. Here are a few tips to make your day an overall success: Doors will not open to students, chaperones or guests until 10 a.m. rain or shine Students of all ages MUST stay with a chaperone at all times. Chaperones MUST stay with students of all ages at all times. We ask that students remain on classroom behavior while visiting the museum for their safety and the safety of our guests. Admission information If you pre-reserved through the group and have already given your admission fee to the group lead we ask that you wait outside and help keep students safe and organized until our doors open at 10 a.m. After the lead has completed check in they will return to your group to pass out admission stickers. If you need to purchase admission: We cannot guarantee there will be any available admission to timed events due to capacity limits. The museum will open at 10 a.m. All chaperones and guests will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis. Adults who are able to purchase admission at the door will be charged full price admission. Membership benefits are not valid for school or group reserved programs in the Omni or Planetarium. Adults are responsible for knowing the full name of the group they are joining as well as the start time of any films their group may be viewing. Example: Hello, I m with (schools name) Elementary and we re seeing the (start time) Omni film and the (start time) Planetarium film. Parking Information There is a $10 fee per vehicle in all City of Fort Worth owned parking lots. There are no in-and-out privileges. Lunch Information The museum does not allow any outside food or drinks inside the building nor do we have any food storage available. Please leave all lunches and coolers in your vehicle before AND after lunch. Your group will be picnicking outside on the front lawn. See your group lead for specific details. Frequently Asked Questions Where do I check-in? Student drop off and check-in is located at the main box office in the large turn around on Gendy Street. We ask no more than 2 lead teachers enter the building to begin the check-in process. Please have final attendance numbers available. When should we arrive? Final check-in begins at 9:45 a.m. for lead teachers. Doors will not open to students, chaperones or guests until 10 a.m. rain or shine. If you have a time sensitive reservation in either the Omni or Planetarium we suggest arriving 15 minutes prior to start time. What if I m running late? Call 817.255.9540 if you are delayed the day of your visit. We ll do our best to accommodate you, however due to capacity limits in the Omni and Planetarium we may have no alternative options for your group. How do we pay for our visit? Payment is required on or before your visit. We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. If bringing cash please provide large bills to expedite the check-in process. We do NOT accept purchase orders. Can I bring extra Chaperones? Yes! However, we do not guarantee any admission beyond your reserved total. Adults arriving the day of the visit without being previously reserved through the school do so at their own risk. Teachers, please call 817-255-9440 to make adjustments to attendance. Adults purchasing admission at the door will NOT qualify for discounted admission. Museum membership benefits cannot be used for any school or group reserved Omni or Planetarium presentation. Many of our staff are connected for instant communication. In case of an emergency they can immediately be in touch with a member of our security team. FORT WORTH MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY LUNCH GUIDELINES Can we bring sack lunches? Absolutely! All lunches are held just outside the main entrance on the front lawn. Groups are welcome to bring blankets, towels, or quilts to make their picnic more comfortable. When can we have lunch? Since lunches are held outside with plenty of space available there is no set schedule. Feel free to plan lunches to when it best suits your itinerary. Where can we store our lunches? The museum does not have any storage space available; make plans to leave all pails, coolers, backpacks and picnic blankets in approved vehicles before AND after lunch. Where do buses drop off lunches? One bus per group will be allowed in and out privileges to drop off lunches; load buses accordingly. Buses may park in the drop off zone until lunches have been completed and coolers have been placed back in the bus before returning to the parking lot. Group leaders are responsible for informing bus drivers of appropriate drop off and pick up times. What happens if inclement weather is in the forecast? In the event of inclement weather you will be contacted by museum staff and informed of alternative options available to your group. Should you have any concerns, please don t hesitate to contact the Group Sales department. Can we pre-order boxed lunches? Yes! If your group is interested in setting up a discounted food order either in the Reel Refreshments Concession Stand to be enjoyed during your Omni presentation or a boxed lunch order through the Stars Café please contact Group Sales as soon as possible to receive an order form. All meal requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance. Can we order boxed lunches when we arrive? Unfortunately discounted meals are only available to groups who have pre-ordered meals at least 2 weeks in advance. Can our group purchase individual lunches on their own? Yes! However walk up groups should be prepared for an extended wait time while individual meals are prepared as well as the possibility of limited seating availability inside the café. Informing Group Sales prior to your arrival of your intent to walk up order at the café or concession stand could help lower your wait time. Check In Lead teachers may enter the building to begin final check-in at 9:45 a.m. Please have final attendance numbers available listing students and the total number of adults separately. We do not guarantee any admission beyond your pre-reserved totals. Any adult not previously reserved through the group may be able to purchase full price admission pending availability. Payment Payment is required on or before the day of your visit. We accept cash, check or all major credit cards. We do NOT accept purchase orders. Seating is available in the Stars Café on a first come, first served basis for groups that purchase food in advance. Additional seating is available outside the building on our front lawn.
