Notes
Notes 2012 Hatt et Söner Grande Cuvée Quattuor Blanc de Blancs Appellation: Oger, Les Mesnils, Vertus, Bergères Blanc de Blancs. No malo. 5g/L dosage. Generous, exotic and spicy, capturing the exuberance of Vertus and Bergères. The ripeness of the fruit makes for approachability even with no malo in this young blanc de blancs. It leads out rich and full and pulls into a focused tail of malic acidity and prominent, fine chalk minerality. A cuvée that contrasts generous presence with focused structure and well defined minerality. -Tyson Stelzer Lifted citrus, some chalkiness and yellow plum with some florals on the nose. Palate is clean, juicy acids with fresh orange citrus flesh and bright acid profile. I like the selection of fruit from the 10 different vineyard parcels, it gives character and sets an easy-going style of blanc de blancs. A great example. -Kyriacos Christoloulou
Appellation: NV Reserve Rosé Montagne de Reims 2010 Hatt et Söner Grande Cuvée Nature Blanc de Blancs Appellation: Les Martin Rosé Reserve is a champagne of unique character. This outstanding blend is enriched by a solera of red wines vinified in oak barrels, a very special vinification process that gives birth to a pink champagne with exceptional fruitiness. The intense nose is dominated by lively aromas of wild strawberries, red currants and blackcurrants, delicately enhanced by spicy notes of cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is fresh, lucious round and persistent, with fine and delicatly tannic bubbles reflecting the same fruity elegance. Chardonnay : 40-45% Pinot Noir : 40-45% Pinot Meunier : 10-15% Solera of red wines : 10-12 % Reserve wines : 25-35 % Ageing on lees : 2-3 years (in bottle) Dosage : 7.5-8.5 g/l 50 year old vines. 4300 bottles. Blanc de blancs. SS tanks. No malo. Zero dosage. Les Martin lieu dit in the centre of the slope and the centre of the village. Pale straw hue. A focused style that captures the mineral definition and tension of Bergères, with notes of nutmeg and spice. A tense and mineral cuvée that heightens chalk minerality with malic acidity and zero dosage and culminates in a finish of persistence. -Tyson Stelzer Bright with plenty of minerals and chalk in expression. Nose is pure lemon and fresh cut green apple. The palate is super clean, vibrant with mouthwatering acids flooding the sides of the tongue. It s not all dry and has the generosity of flavour despite its Brut Nature style. I would pair this with food (foie gras/chaource/seared scallops) and share amongst friends. -Kyriacos Christoloulou
Appellation: NV Blanc de Noirs Montagne de Reims Côte de Bars Vallée de la Marne Appellation: 2009 Brut Millésime Montagne de Reims Champagne Palmer already mastered the art of blending Blanc de Noirs back in 1955. Today, Palmer presents a contemporary expression of this historical cuvée combining fruit, freshness and elegance. With a perfect balance between Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, Palmer Blanc de Noirs is an outstanding blend of carefully selected crus from the Montagne de Reims, the Côte des Bars and the Vallée de la Marne. The nose is intense, fresh and fruity, combing delicate notes of peach and apricot with lively aromas of pink grapefruit and red currant. On the palate, the wine presents the elegance of the Palmer style. It does have structure from the Pinot grapes, but freshness and finesse are the main highlights of Palmer Blanc de Noirs. Palmer & Co Vintage is always a subtle association of a particular climatic year and the Palmer style. Consisting exclusively of Premier and Grand Crus from the Montagne de Reims area, this champagne of rare complexity also has the typical charming elegance of Palmer & Co. Intense aromas of crisp fruits and citrus are mingled with delicate notes of toasted brioche and hazelnut. Ample and sophisticated on the palate, the wine settles to a perfect balance between power and freshness. The Chardonnay : 50-55% Pinot Noir : 40-45% Pinot Meunier : 5-10% Ageing on lees :6-8 years (in bottle) Dosage : 8-9 g/l
