WINESANDVINES.COM WELCOME Welcome, wineries! Over the past 18 years, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC) has grown to become one of the world s most respected and highly publicized wine competitions. The competition has established itself as a platform for large and boutique wineries alike to showcase their wines on a national scale and increase sales. Last year, our incredible judging panel scrutinized over 7,000 entries from across America. Our judges, who hail from a variety of American Viticulture/ Regions, bring unique insight due to their variety of backgrounds in retail, trade, restaurant/hospitality, media, and education. Using a unique collaborative style of blind judging and their very educated palates, they are able to analyze and single out the very best wines in America. WINES & VINES Print and Digital Products for the Wine and Grape Industry This year, the Cloverdale Citrus Fair is once again honored to organize and host the 2018 SFCWC. As such, we are proud to announce our official Call for Entries for the 2018 competition. Entries will be accepted from now until November 15th, and the wines will be evaluated in the first week of January. We encourage wineries to go to winejudging.com for information about the competition, or they can go directly to enofile.com for immediate registration and entry. In cooperation with Northern California s largest newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGATE, the SFCWC will provide heightened exposure to the award winning wineries in 2018. Media sponsorships for the competition include KGO-AM 810, NBC TV and Wine & Spirits Magazine which will be a major returning sponsor that will publish a full page spread of award winning wines. The Larose Group, our public relations agency, will increase wine award exposure through additional media outlets including print, radio, websites, blogs and social media. All awards will be listed online at winejudging.com throughout the full year. After the judging is complete, wineries also have the opportunity to pour their wines for the large and prestigious San Francisco Bay wine consumer demographic at the 2018 SFCWC Public Tasting at Fort Mason Center, which takes place Saturday, February 17, 2018. This is an invaluable opportunity to meet wine lovers from all ages and demographics, Millennials to Baby Boomers, who are responsible for the modern surge in wine sales. We are very proud that consumers use the SFCWC as a tool to educate themselves and measure the quality of premium wines. Most importantly, the prestige of being a SFCWC winner and the heightened exposure to the media means that wineries will see increased sales. EVENT ADVANTAGES FROM THE CITRUS FAIR TO THE CHRONICLE Beginning as the modest Cloverdale Citrus Fair Wine Competition 34 years ago, our competition has since become the largest competition of American wines in the world. In 2000, the San Francisco Chronicle became the naming sponsor. The competition has continued to expand and redefine itself in response to the rapidly changing needs and demands of the wine industry. WHY PARTICIPATE IN THE 2018 SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE WINE COMPETITION? Inclusion in first competition of the year. Wines are judged by distinguished and competent national judges from the media, education, trade and restaurant/ hospitality industries. Multiple price ranges and varieties judged separately to find winners in each category. Wines listed on large size plaques (Silver or higher). Marketing assistance provided throughout the year for the winning wines. Gold and above included in a 30+ page special section in the San Francisco Chronicle, readership of more than 1.7 million, and SFGATE, 30 million unique users each month. SFCWC Public Tasting at Fort Mason allows wineries to showcase their wines to over 5,000 consumers throughout the greater Bay Area. RESERVE YOUR TABLE NOW Wineries have the opportunity to reserve tables at one of the largest public tasting of wines in the country, Saturday, February 17, 2018.
