KERRY HOTEL More time to savour Kerry Hotel s array of innovative dining options offer uninterrupted harbour views from every restaurant. Prepare for an unforgettable feast for the eyes and the palate! Hung Tong Hong Kong tradition with a twist Kerry Hotel s signature restaurant honours Hong Kong s past while creating a contemporary Chinese dining experience. Inspired by the maritime history of the Hung Hom Bay neighbourhood, red brick walls and traditional metal gates emulate the warehouses of old Hong Kong, while vintagestyle leather chairs make for a comfortable and relaxing environment. Executive Chinese Chef Ken Yu uses traditional cooking methods to create modern Cantonese cuisine with distinctive signature dishes. The restaurant also houses two private dining rooms for special occasions and celebrations. Big Bay Cafe A journey of culinary delights! In relaxed and spacious surroundings, Big Bay Café offers an elaborate array of freshly prepared international cuisine throughout the day, leading diners on a journey of gastronomic delights. The restaurant features seven distinctive pavilions, each dedicated to a different cooking technique, including Steam, Grill, Chill, Fry, Stew, Dessert Lab and The Nook, allowing diners to experiment with new flavours and exciting combinations. Sample authentic dim sum from the steamer, skewers fresh from the grill, fresh seafood and handmade sushi, liquid nitrogen ice cream and so much more. As with every one of Kerry Hotel s restaurants, Big Bay Café has unobstructed panoramic views of Hong Kong s iconic skyline from the indoor and outdoor al fresco dining areas. 6 7

Red Sugar A drink with a view Red Sugar s stunning rooftop terrace offers an uninterrupted 270-degree view of Victoria Harbour with a sweeping vista of Hong Kong Island across to the open bay. Acclaimed artist Adrian Wong has created two bespoke Hong Kong inspired installations for the bar, paying homage to the rich cultural history of the city. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening the bar comes alive with upbeat music from our three in-house DJ s. Bar Manager Joe Villanueva has created a menu featuring Asian inspired cocktails, an extensive range of craft brews and barrel-aged cocktails. KERRY HOTEL 8 9

Lobby Lounge Relax and unwind Nestled within the hustle and bustle of the lobby, the peaceful Lobby Lounge is a relaxing sanctuary with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a lush garden. Amongst the calming water feature and tropical plants is the stately bronze sculpture of the Tai Chi series by Taiwanese artist Ju Ming. Inspired by typical Hong Kong fare, the Lobby Lounge features reinterpretations of nostalgic local favourites including Hong Kong comfort food, homemade soft drinks as well as Afternoon Tea featuring unique Hong Kong flavours and locally inspired drinks such as Yuanyang and Silk Stocking Tea. KERRY HOTEL Dockyard The future of dining This is a food hall with a difference. Separately managed to the hotel, Dockyard is a revolutionary dining concept that has its own smart phone APP allowing diners to browse, order and digitally pay from multiple menus simultaneously. Modern convenience is accompanied by food choices to suit every palate; from beef brisket noodles at Sister Wah, freshly prepared Japanese bento boxes from Yamaan, Korean favourites from BobbyBox or handcrafted dumplings from Dongsan Dumplings, all dishes are freshly prepared by top chefs. Not to mention the bar, serving Dockyard lager from the number one local craft brewery Young Masters Ales as well as creative cocktails and international wines and spirits. This hip industrialstyle marketplace has hints and references to the area s shipping past with maritime effects such as reclaimed ship panels lining the walls and an open cast ceiling. Dockyard is Hong Kong s number one spot to enjoy a game of foosball and relax with friends. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, live performances from the stage keep guests entertained. 10 11

HUNG HOM Kowloon s trendsetting area 5 2 Hung Hom was once a quietly historic part of town. Now it s setting trends with some of the best shops, restaurants and attractions in Hong Kong 4 8 9 1 7 6 10 3 16 17

TOP 10 Hung Hom From Hong Kong s oldest cinema to one of its most beautiful parks, Hung Hom is an area that demands careful exploration 5 Chatham Road s air raid tunnels For something a little different, visit the door to the air-raid tunnels in Chatham Road North. Okay, the passageways themselves, which saved many lives during the Japanese bombings in the Second World War, have been blocked up and the remaining door is locked but a visit here is a chance to reflect on what it must have been like in Kowloon in the war. Chatham Rd N, near Fat Kwong St flyover KERRY HOTEL 1 Lux Theatre Nothing beats an old cinema, especially when it s the oldest in the city. Opened in 1970, Lux sticks to tradition by only using manpower, rather than computers, for ticketing. In fact, it s the only cinema in the city to do so. But it does show 3D films, so it s embracing the times in some ways. 2J, Bulkeley St, 2365 7116 6 The Sesame This cute and cosy dessert cafe has an amazing steamed milk pudding with sesame, the aroma of freshly roasted sesame with custard-like steamed milk is the perfect combination. Also try their classic pomelo and tapioca pearls in sweet mango soup, super refreshing and not too sweet. 16B Man Tai Street, 2330 7978 3 Hutchinson Park Some parts of Hung Hom are super-busy. And some parts, like Hutchison Park, are so quiet you can hear the birds sing. Come here for a relaxing afternoon or an evening stroll and wander this green expanse which boasts a range of traditional Chinese architecture at regular intervals alongside a serene central water feature. Off Tai Wan Rd E 4 Hop Shing Bookstore A bookstore with a history. Hop Shing began life as a grocery shop in the 50s and later started selling books and comics. Locals come here to browse the shelves and check out the extensive secondhand collection. Look out for the old martial arts novels. 27 Whampoa St, 2364 5871 2 Hung Hom s Temples For a glimpse of Hung Hom s heritage, we recommend you visit Fuk Tak, Kwun Yam and Pak Tai temples as you tour the neighbourhood. Fuk Tak (corner of Bulkeley St and Po Loi St) is one of Hong Kong s smallest, founded in The Song Dynasty and containing a stone representing the Earth God. Kwun Yam (15 Station Ln), built in 1873, is dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. Pak Tai (146 Ma Tau Wai Rd) was relocated to its present spot in 1929. An iron bell, made in 1893, and an iron incense burner from 1901 can be seen inside. 7 蒙麵 Cart Noodles This is the local go-to for genuine Hong Kong noodles. It s a great spot for watching the mix of regular locals and Hong Kong actors who are known to hang out here. You can personalise your bowl of noodles with toppings of your choice. It s reasonably priced too, at around $40 a dish. The grilled barbecue pork and chicken wings not to be missed. Shop 1, G/F, Hip Fai Bldg, 9-15A Station Ln, 2363 8166 9 Hung Hom Pancake Every Hongkonger has their favourite egg waffle, but the folks in Hung Hom swear by this little take out shop. In addition to doing the perennial favourite egg waffle, try their waffle with fresh mango pieces. Shop 2, Polly Court, Taku Street 8 Hung Hom Cafe Hung Hom Cafe serves cha chaan teng (Cantonese tea shop) style fare. The crispy pork knuckle is a real treat and the deep fried prawns in salted egg yolk are a real indulgence. G/F, 25 Ming On Street, 2364 8388 10 The Great Restaurant Spicy chicken hotpot is a favourite among Hongkongers during the cool winter months, best shared with friends or family. The Great Restaurant is the go-to hotpot place for Hong Kong s popstars and actors. Once you ve finished your chicken, the staff will top-up your pot with broth where you can simmer beef, vegetables, seafood, or whatever takes your fancy. 35 Man Tai Street, 2407 3337 18 19

10 8 7 2 9 5 6 4 KOWLOON BAY A thriving waterside hub You need to tour the land which used to house the city s airport. And when you re done, enjoy the cycling ground at Kowloon Park or buy some vintage wares in this lively area... 1 3 20 21

TOP 10 Kowloon Bay Walk the streets of Kowloon Bay and find a wealth of attractions; take in the dramatic lights of the promenade and feel the wind in your hair at Kowloon Park Cycling Ground 5 Happiness Ice Room Of the many local-style cha chaan tengs in the Bay Area, Happiness Ice Room is among the more renowned. They serve classic local comfort food. And it s superb. 6 Wang Kwun Rd, 2624 9987 KERRY HOTEL 1 Kwun Tong Promenade Impressive sculptures harking back to Hong Kong s maritime-industrial heritage line this pleasant waterfront boardwalk. At night the sculptures light up and generate a surreal mist effect intended to recreate the atmosphere of times past. Access from Ngau Tau Kok MTR or Kwun Tong Ferry Pier 2 E-Max Wearhouse Real talk it s not a Hong Kong holiday without some serious shopping. Get the look for less at E-Max s WearHouse, a mecca of big name international designer brands, kids clothes and even homewares, which you can pick up at a fraction of the regular price. Prepare the credit card. 1 Trademart Dve, 2620 3388; emaxhk.com 3 Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Park This park sits on what was once the runway of Hong Kong s old airport; jutting out into Victoria Harbour, Kai Tak Airport was infamous for its whiteknuckle rooftop-skimming final approach. Nowadays, it s a far more relaxing place, perfect for a picnic with a view. Access on foot or by Bus 5R from Ngau Tau Kok MTR 4 Zero Carbon World In the heart of Kowloon Bay is Hong Kong s first emissions-free site. A Hong Kong government initiative, the park showcases state-of-the-art eco-forward design technologies over its nearly 15,000sq m and includes an exhibition area, an eco café, an eco home and the city s first urban native woodland. 8 Sheung Yuet Rd; cic.hk 6 Rest Coffee Tucked along a narrow alley, Rest Coffee is easy to miss, but for those in the neighbourhood looking for more than coffee chain offerings, it s worth the extra navigating. Get a pastry with your cup of joe - the banana muffins are pretty good, as are the selection of cakes. Shop 4A, 12 Wang Tai Road, 5506 5636 8 Kai Yip Food Market One of Hong Kong s last true hawker centres, a journey to the outdoor food stalls of Kai Yip Food Market might be tough for non-chinese speakers to negotiate but efforts will be rewarded handsomely. Come for classic Cantonese dishes, served with a minimum of fuss and packed full of flavour. 18 Kai Yip Rd 7 Congeodle A 10-minute walk from movies and shopping at E-Max, Congeodle serves Hong Kong comfort food in an upscale setting, a Grade A office building catering to executives in the area. Get your fill of wonton noodles and rice noodle rolls with barbecue pork for lunch, both on weekdays and weekends. Congeodle turns into a hot pot destination come nighttime, too, serving up premium ingredients and savoury soup bases. 1/F, Goldin Financial Global Centre, 17 Kai Cheung Road, 3188 2667 9 Bingo & Cook Head down to Kowloon International Trade & Exhibition Centre and sample Bingo & Cook. This brand new restaurant serves Korean favourites including signature pancakes! Shop 36 & 38, E-Max, 1 Trademart Drive, 3585 7332 10 Kowloon Park Cycling ground This unique cycling track follows an elevated figure-eight circuit and also features a beginner zone where new cyclists can get the knack. It s a great family day out and, once you re done, there are many nearby dining and snacking options where you can reward yourself with a post Tour-de- Kowloon bite. 18 Kai Lai Rd, Kowloon Bay 22 23

10 NORTH POINT 8 7 Hidden beauty in Island East Take a ferry over Victoria Harbour and discover the charms of one of Hong Kong Island s oldest neighbourhoods 2 5 6 1 9 3 4 24 25

TOP 10 North Point Head to North Point, the busy neighbourhood where Cantonese opera, traditional markets, hilltop hike and harbour cruises are all within striking distance... 1 Sunbeam Theatre For over 40 years, Sunbeam Theatre has been one of the most famous homes of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong. The historic building has, more than once, narrowly avoided being redeveloped as a shopping mall. Performances still run five days a week at 7pm with the occasional matinee at 1pm. 413-423 King s Rd, North Point 5 Cafe Hue Vietnamese Restaurant You would never guess this humble Vietnamese joint has a loyal following with the rich and famous in Hong Kong. Run by a Vietnamese-born owner, their flavourful beef pho is a crowd-puller, inspired by the genuine taste of old Saigon this institution is a local favourite. Also try their delicious steamed banh cuon with savoury pork filling. Echo Peak Tower, 61 Fort Street, 2512 8323 6 Tak Hing Lung Go crazy for the bean! Soybeans, that is. This snack eatery is well known for their freshly pressed soybean milk and tofu fah, a silky beancurd dessert. Also available are beancurd sheets which can be made into various casserole dishes. But that s not all - they also make amazing fried dumplings, stuffed tofu and more! Sit down or take your meal to go...they also do a great breakfast for $20. G/F, 1Q Marble Road, North Point KERRY HOTEL 2 Chun Yeung Street Hongkongers love nothing more than a photo opportunity, and one of the most distinctive can be found at Chun Yeung Street wet market. Here, the eastbound tram (call it the ding ding if you really want to blend in with the locals) turns off the busy King s Road and heads down a narrow market stall-lined side street where business is carried out just as it has been for centuries. 3 Fook Yuen Dessert Nice and chewy, tong yuen is a classic sweet treat made from rice flour. This family owned dessert joint produces a limited amount of tong yuen per day, made from scratch on their premises. Grab a seat in their modest dining area and order the ones with black sesame filling, where the aroma of freshly roasted black sesame is complemented by just a hint of sweetness. Their ginger flavoured syrup is mild and warm, be sure you take a spoonful with every bite. Shop I-1, G/F, Lei Do Building, 7 Fuk Yuen Street, North Point 4 Braemar Hill Even in the depths of Hong Kong s concrete jungle, you re never more than a few hundred metres from dense forests where winding trails lead past refreshing waterfalls towards stunning hilltop views. From North Point, head up into Braemar Hill s network of footpaths to discover unforgettable views over the city. Access from Braemar Hill Road 7 Fung Shing Restaurant When it comes to old fashioned dim sum restaurants, you can t get more authentic than Fung Shing. It s been around for decades and their big servings of char siu bao and shao mai keep the regulars loyal. Their dinner classics such as crispy skin fried chicken are also a perennial favourite. Goldfield Mansion, 62-68 Java Road, 2578 4898 9 Oi! The buildings that house this arts complex on North Point s Oil Street were originally built as the home of Hong Kong Yacht Club, before falling into disrepair and eventually finding a use as an artist village. The original artistoccupants went on to found the influential Cattle Depot Artist Village over the harbour in To Kwa Wan, but Oi! reopened in 2013 as one of the city s most innovative art spaces. 12 Oil St, North Point 8 Duck Shing Ho Duck Shing Ho has been making Chinese egg rolls for over 40 years. It is Hong Kong s most famous and favourite place of its type and a long queue forms every morning with people clamouring for these sweet crumbly treats. Duck Shing Ho s egg rolls are handmade daily following a traditional recipe and make a great gift to take back home. 64 Java Road, 2570 5529 10 Harbour Cruise - Bauhinia This unique sightseeing and dining cruise provides an ideal viewpoint from which to enjoy the famous Symphony of Lights, which illuminates Victoria Harbour every evening. The fleet of four former ferries are available for private hire as well as scheduled sightseeing tours. North Point Ferry Pier, off Kam Hong Street 26 27
