Foiled by the local railway offi cials in his attempts to lease the land, the founder went straight to the hairman of Railway ommissioners in Melbourne. With above average rainfall in January, most of which fell in the latter part of the month, and all the rainfall for February at the beginning of the month was cause for concern amongst growers and winemakers. The vintage commenced on the 31st of January (one of the earliest vintages encountered in the region) with early ripening white varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon to avoid any incidence of disease and ensure the fruit was in its best condition. Region: South Eastern Australia. olour: Medium straw. Bouquet: Stone fruits dominated by white peach. Palate: The palate is soft and creamy. For years it was an isolated sheep station, home to a lonely old shepherd Jimmy Shagger Shaw and some nervous sheep. It was known by the locals as Shagger s where the men are men and the sheep are scared. hard Farm, producers of Rabbit Ranch (renowned for premium Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir), created this wine from a limited amount of fruit.
