Page 1 September 2006- Commodore s Report Barry Ellingson September Calendar 9/13 PSYC Board 9/15-17 Hat Fishing Derby WOW what a great summer. I hope everyone spent lots of time enjoying their boat. Marcia and I have been to a couple cruises and spent two weeks in the San Juans with some other club boats and were able to use reciprocal moorage in Maple Bay and North Saanich. Both were nice clubs with friendly members, and we had a great time! I hope many of you had a chance to use reciprocal privileges while you were out. It is one of the benefits of being a club member. If you are out and see a yacht club that we don t have reciprocate with stop in and ask if they are interested. Most times they will be happy to have you and if you get their reciprocal chairs name we will add them to our list of clubs. There have been lots of club activities to enjoy and many members took part in the cruises and other activities. I hope you were one. I want to give a big thanks to all the members that worked so hard to put these events on. There are still many events ahead and I hope you plan to attend. Check your calenders now and plan to join in on the fun. so start thinking now on places you would like to see a cruise next year and how we can improve our cruises. This year we noticed some decrease in attendance so we are counting on your input to make 2007 the best year ever. Judy Quick is still looking for people to help with membership and has many good ideas on how to get new members to help take the club into the next several years. Please let Judy know if you would be willing to help if called upon. 9/20 PSYC General Mtg We will be sending out a cruise questionnaire in the October Sound Waves Safe Boating!

I hope that all of you had a nice summer; the weather was definitely a boaters dream. I was able to enjoy a two week boating trip north to desolation sound returning home on Labor Day. Now I have one day to clean up the boat then its back to work on the Club. On Wednesday September 6 th North West Custom Gutters will begin tearing off the old gutters. On Saturday September 9 th we have a work party scheduled to get ready for the painting project. On Monday September 11 the painters will begin painting the outside of the club. Then finally the gutter company comes back in to install new gutters. The work party this Saturday (September 9 th ) will start at 9:00. There are several small construction projects that need to be completed as well as some light cleaning inside the club and fall clean up around the outside of the club and the flower beds. All help is greatly appreciated, I hope to see you there. One last thing, I think that it is time to do an audit of the club keys, so I m asking everyone that has a key to the club to please email me (M-L_Haistings@msn.com) your name and the letter & number that is on your key. I will be updating the spread sheet with this information. I hope everyone had a very enjoyable boating season and look forward to seeing you on Saturday at the work party.

Page 3 Rear Commodore s Report Gary Sheneman As another cruising season comes to a close I hope that each of you had a wonderful summer exploring the great Puget Sound. I had the opportunity to spend a week in Desolation Sound and couldn't have had a more enjoyable experience. The solitude, breathtaking scenery and endless night sky were awe inspiring, and the ride through the Seymour Narrows in a 16 foot Boston Whaler was a real thrill. But now on to the real fun stuff. We had a tremendous turn-out for the return of our annual Pig-Roast in August. Thanks to Jack Excel and his crew (Bill & Peggy Allen, Joe & Kathy Ornelas, Don Snyder, Jodie & Dick Paine) we enjoyed a slow roasted pig and all the trimmings on the dock at PSYC. Our next social is a Western Dance planned for September 30th. Don't be intimidated - you won't need to wear Wranglers to have a good time. Jim & Linda Barrett will be our hosts and are planning a full evening of fun. Pay attention to your email as more news on this event will follow. You'll need to save some energy for our annual Eastern Washington Wine Tour to Richland. Commencing October 6th-8th Judy has a FULL weekend of fun planned winding our way through the Richland countryside enjoying good company, great food and fantastic wine. The weekend promises to be action packed! The summer season is winding down as the evening grow shorter and the air a touch crisper. Don t mourn the end of summer, embrace the presence of fall and all promise it holds for PSYC. Fleet Captain s Report - Chris Thomsen This has been the most beautiful summer I can remember in Seattle. With the exception of Memorial Day at Oak Harbor, the club cruises have all enjoyed spectacular weather. Les and Donna Alluisi, Tom and Sue Layborn and Rodney Jong's Port Orchard Cruise (17 boats) in July enjoyed a relaxing weekend before the 4th. Chris Kuhlman captained his Andrew's Bay Cruise August 25 - Cheeseburger's in Paradise- lots of boats and great swimming, I heard. The club has two cruises left on the schedule for the 2006 season: The Hat Is. Fishing Derby and the Annual Pool/Dart Tournement at Polsbo Ray Underwood has the Fishing Derby planned and organized. He has sent several email's so let him know that you will be at Hat Is. the weekend of September 16th. The Poulsbo Tournement is slated for the weekend of October 20th, Co-Captain's are Carlson's, Zitkovich's, Kolanda's and Josephson's. It looks like more great weather right on into the Fall. Wonderful time to own a boat! Chris Thomsen, Fleet Captain
