Enough to fill 46,400 large school busses per year. 4 Aardvark Compliance MADE IN THE USA 100% of all raw materials, process components and materials that go into the making of paper straws are made in the United States. The labor to make, package and ship the paper straws is comprised of a 100% United States workforce. Aardvark Paper Drinking Straws are fully compliant with FTC and California standards for Made in the USA. FOOD SAFE - FDA/EU COMPLIANT Our straws have been tested and approved to be in compliance with FDA test method 21 CFR Testing was also conducted to obtain evidence of compliance with Council of Europe Resolution AP(2002)1 relating to paper materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. Our samples comply with The General Requirement (Article 3) in EU Regulation No. 1935/2004 as referenced in Report Number EFSH ST. Inks used for printing on the surface of our drinking straws have been tested, certified and are guaranteed acceptable for direct contact with food products, in accordance with the applicable chapters and sections of Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR). In addition, a safety assessment has been conducted, and based on the toxicity testing results; the conclusion provides added evidence that all chemical components used are proven to be safe as tested by the Health, Environmental, & Regulatory Services of Intertek USA, Inc. Additionally, all raw material and process components used are free of any fluorochemicals/fluorinated compounds. SUSTAINABILITY The vast majority of material used in the composition of these products is in compliance to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). This paperbased material comes from a sustainably managed forest with chain-of-custody procedures in place. COMPOSTABILITY Sample product was submitted to an independent source for substrate analysis. The evaluation was successful resulting in evidence that the product tested passed the substrate analysis, meeting compostability requirements. BIODEGRADABLILITY AND MARINE DEGRADABILITY Aardvark uses natural cellulose paper as the primary material of the paper drinking straws. Paper, being a natural fiber, is universally considered to be inherently biodegradable and is supported as such by organizations such as the San Francisco Food Service Ware Ordinance. Aardvark straws being made of paper naturally degrade in oceans, rivers and lakes and are safe for marine life. All plastic straws, including biodegradable and compostable plastic straws, pose a serious threat to the marine environment as their fragments do not degrade and remain in the ocean, able to be ingested by marine organisms. Aardvark s durable straws reduce plastic pollution by breaking down quickly in most environments. They will do their best to work with electronic art files; however, due to differing technologies, operating systems, and conflicting graphic programs, it is necessary to charge for the time used to convert electronic art. If your electronic art meets the following conditions, and it is useable for the print plate manufacturing processes, there will be no art charges: 1. TIF or TIFF graphics file format (charging the file extension will not change the format) Bit black & white properties (not grayscale or color properties, no screens) dpi resolution. If the files are not easy to use or the quality is below the plate manufacture standards, we will notify you. Files that require art changes include GIF and JPEG files from the Internet which look good on a computer monitor, but are too coarse 9only 72 dpi) for printing. The plate manufacture has Corel Draw 9, Freehand 9, Illustrator 10 and Quark Express 4.1. Please make files from newer versions backwards compatible. 23 SEA TURTLE STRAWS Fort W ayne, IN Since 1888 MAKE THE SWITCH TO PAPER STRAWS Like most of the viewing public, we were horrified to see the awful video of a sea turtle suffering from a plastic straw lodged in its nose. In response, we have created a special Aardvark eco-friendly paper straw that represents the importance of using paper over plastic for our marine life. Aardvark will donate 15% of SALES from the sale of our Sea Turtle straws to the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care Center.
