13 Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Goes Global Plastic Free Communities Status, the team provided evidence of eliminating single-use plastics in local businesses, hosted forums, worked with other like-minded groups to protect local waters, and helped get the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-Up off the ground. A member of the local council is in their group and they all work tirelessly to engage community organisations in supporting their goals.ray said: Bayfield and the region around it depend on clean water for tourism and agricultural sustainability. Human health is potentially at risk from the intake of microbeads at water treatment facilities. 35 community groups in Bayfield, from youth groups to service clubs, signed up to end the use of single-use plastic bottles. Our participation in Plastic Free Communities has inspired us to escalate our efforts to eliminate or reduce the use of these and other products, not just in businesses but also in homes. Much has been done, but much still can be done. We will engage the many communities along our coastline in acting with us to end this carnage of our waters.

20 Alternatives to toxic cleaners NON-TOXIC CLEANERS Tried and True: Tested by Blue Bayfield Members. Oven: Start when your oven is hot grease slips around when it s hot. Make a paste of baking soda and water. Scrape off burnt spots and apply the paste. Scrub with steel wood pad. Rinse Kitchen Cleaner: Use Baking Soda to clean a stainless steel sink Glass Cleaner: Put Baking Soda on a wet sponge and scrub drinking glasses. Rinse and enjoy the shine. Windows: Add 75ml (1/3 cup) of vinegar to every litre of water in a spray bottle. Silver Polish: This really works for items that can be submerged. Put a strip of aluminum foil into a glass bowl. Sprinkle foil with salt and baking soda and fill with warm water. Soak silver cutlery in bowl. Tarnish migrates to the bowl. Dry and buff. Brass Cleaner: Cut a lemon in half, sprinkle with salt and rub the lemon on the brass. Buff. Copper Cleaner: Make a paste with equal parts white vinegar, flour and salt. Leave for an hour and then buff. Could Be True Rust Remover: Vinegar can help remove rust on bolts Drain Cleaner: Pour 125 ml of baking soda down drain and add at least a 500ml of vinegar. Did you Know.? Many household cleaners contain alcohol, bleach, formaldehyde (magic eraser), lye: all substances that cause headaches, dizziness, inflammation of the eyes and throat. These ingredients have been linked to neurological, liver and kidney damage, asthma and cancer. GREEN IDEAS If You Are Dedicated And Have The Time Laundry Detergent: 500 ml soap flakes, 250 ml washing soda, 250 ml baking soda, 25 ml oxygen bleach (optional for extra whitening power) (Soap flakes can be made by grating your favorite pure vegetable soap with a cheese grater). Mix ingredients together and store in a glass container. Use 15 ml per load (2 for heavily soiled laundry), wash in warm or cold water. All Purpose Cleaner: 1 litre white distilled vinegar, 1 litre water, or more drops of essential oil (optional) Furniture Polish: 125 ml olive oil, 125 ml white distilled vinegar, drops lemon essential oil. Deodorant: Melt in double boiler. 15 ml shea or coconut butter, 15 ml coconut oil, 15 mil baking soda, 15 cornstarch, 20 ml grated beeswax. Toothpaste: 45 ml coconut oil, 45 ml baking soda, 5 drops essential oil (optional) 2.5 ml stevia (optional) Hair Shine Conditioner: 15 to 30 ml of raw apple cider, 250 ml water. Combine ingredients. Wash and rinse hair. Pour on mixture and rinse well. Use every two weeks. Hand Sanitizer: 60 ml pure aloe gel, 125 ml grain alcohol or vodka, 5 drops of tea tree oil thyme essentials. Store in squeeze bottle. Liquid Hand Soap: 80 ml castile soap, 160 ml water, 5 drops of essential oil. Bugs Off! Ants: red chilli pepper, paprika, borax or bone meal Aphids: garlic, green onion tops, 15 ml Tabasco. Strain and mix with soapy water. Spray garden and wait 1/2 hour and rinse.
