2 Little hands make light work of cake! Hello bakers, When I m busy baking my latest creations, my kids always love helping out. Whisking up the fluffiest mixes, whipping up the gooiest sauces and sprinkling over the cutest Dr. Oetker decorations they just can t resist getting stuck in. That s why I ve teamed up with Dr. Oetker to create four quick and easy recipes little ones can bake off at home with dad, grandma or uncle. With Mother s Day around the corner, they re made to make Mum smile. So line up your little bakers, and treat her to something special! 4 Crafty Little Biscuits Makes 25 Biscuits Prep 40 Cook 25 3 WHAT YOU LL NEED INGREDIENTS 100g room temperature unsalted butter 150g caster sugar Pinch of salt 1 large egg 200g plain flour 1 /2tsp Dr. Oetker Baking Powder Fine zest of 1 lemon 1tsp Dr. Oetker Sicilian Lemon Extract Dr. Oetker Designer Icing, Writing Icing, Chocolate Hearts & Mini Wafer Flowers WHAT KIND OF COOKIE MAKES YOU RICH? A FORTUNE COOKIE! 1 Preheat oven to 180 C. Place butter & sugar in a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer. Add a pinch of salt, then beat in the large egg, lemon zest & the zingy Lemon Extract. 2 3 In another bowl, mix the flour & Baking Powder, then add it to your first mixture and beat again. Bring your dough together and put it in the fridge, let it chill for 5-10 minutes. Brrrr!

5 4 TOP TIP Use letter-shaped cookie cutters to make the biscuits spell out Mummy - guaranteed to make her smile! Diary of the Dad diaryofthedad.co.uk Lay baking parchment on a flat surface, place your dough on top and cover with more parchment. Get rollin, rollin, rollin until it s about 5mm thick, then cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place on a baking tray. Then place the baking tray in the fridge for approximately Bake at a scorchio 180 C for about 25, then leave the biscuits to cool on a tray. 6 Decorate with Designer Icing, Writing Icing, Chocolate Hearts & Mini Wafer Flowers and treat Mum to your yummy creation. 4

6 Blossoming Cupcakes Makes 12 Cupcakes Prep 15 Cook 20 5 WHAT YOU LL NEED INGREDIENTS Dr. Oetker Cupcake Cases 125g unsalted butter 125g caster sugar Pinch of salt 2 large eggs 1tsp Dr. Oetker Madagascan Vanilla Extract 100g self raising flour 75g ground almonds 75ml milk 2tsp of raspberry or apricot jam Dr. Oetker Regal-Ice Ready to Roll Icing Coloured Dr. Oetker Chocolatey Strands WHAT KIND OF CAKES DO DOGS FIND IRRESISTIBLE? PUPCAKES! 1 2 Preheat oven to 180 C. Mix the butter, a pinch of salt and sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time and add Vanilla Extract. Gently fold in the flour & ground almonds, add the milk and fill 12 cupcake cases with the finished mixture.

7 3 4 Bake in the oven for 15 to 20, take them out and leave until they re too cool for school. Warm jam in the microwave for seconds, then spread a thin layer on top of cupcakes. 5 Wipe black cupcakes with a damp cloth and sprinkle Chocolatey Strands on top. Arrange your cupcakes with a black one in the middle, surrounded by five coloured ones. 6 Roll Icing to the thickness of a 1 coin. Use 100g of yellow, 100g of red plus 40g of black. Use a cutter to make icing discs (you need 5 yellow, 5 red and 2 black) and arrange on top of cupcakes. Roll most of the green Icing, creating stalks for flowers. Then roll out the remaining icing to create leaves, arranging them on either side of your stalks. TOP TIP Add red gel food colour to the cake mix for exciting red cupcakes! 8 Chocolate Flowerpot Cupcakes WHAT YOU LL NEED Makes Prep Cook Cupcakes 20 1 ING RED IEN TS Dr. Oetker Cupcake Cases 120g unsalted butter 120g caster sugar 2 large eggs 120g self raising flour 1 sachet Dr. Oetker Fine Dark Cocoa Powder (25g) 1tsp Dr. Oetker Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Line a cupcake tin with 10 cases and preheat your oven to 180 C. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar with an electric beater. Beat in the eggs one at a time. 2 salt 50g Dr. Oetker Milk Chocolate Chips 75ml milk 1tsp Dr. Oetker Madagascan Vanilla Extract Dr. Oetker Surprise Inside Cupcake Centres Rich Chocolate Dr. Oetker Regal-Ice Ready to Roll Icing Coloured Dr. Oetker Easy Swirl Cupcake Icing Pink or Chocolate Dr. Oetker Mini Wafer Flowers and Wafer Daisies 7 Sift the flour, Fine Dark Cocoa Powder and Baking Powder into the mixing bowl. Add salt and those moreish Milk Chocolate Chips then gently fold in. In stages, fold in 75ml milk and Vanilla Extract to make a smooth batter LDN T WHY COU Y BEAR D THE TED CUPCAKE? 9 3 Dollop the mixture between 10 muffin cases and bake for 20. Allow to cool for 10, then squeeze a squidge of Cupcake Centres into each cupcake. 4 Put cupcakes inside terracotta pots to display. Roll out the green Icing to the thickness of a 1 coin. Cut out long thin leaves 5-7cm long and 1.5cm wide. Take 3 leaves and gently squeeze them together at one end, placing on top of each cupcake. 10 Lovely Strawberry Sandwich Cake Serves 10 People Prep 15 Cook 25 WHAT YOU LL NEED INGREDIENTS 70g strawberry jelly cubes 40ml water 160g unsalted butter 150g caster sugar Pinch of salt 2 large eggs 1tsp Dr. Oetker Madagascan Vanilla Extract 160g self-raising flour 1tsp Dr. Oetker Baking Powder 300ml double cream 30g icing sugar 5tsp strawberry jam 6 8 strawberries 1 pack Dr. Oetker Heart Marshmallows Dr. Oetker Chocolate Hearts & Dr. Oetker Mini Wafer Flowers Preheat the oven to 180 C, grease and line the base of two 18cm baking tins. Put the wibbly wobbly jelly cubes in a microwavable bowl, add the water and heat on full power for 40 seconds or until jelly has melted. Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl until it s smooth, light and fluffy. Add a pinch of salt, then beat in eggs one at a time, adding 1tsp Vanilla Extract and half the jelly water. Sieve the self-raising flour and 1tsp Baking Powder into another bowl and fold it into your mixture, using a large metal spoon. Fold in the remaining jelly water. WHAT DO CATS EAT WITH CAKE? MICE CREAM! 9

11 4 5 6 Split between the two baking tins and bake for 25. Allow to cool for a few minutes then run a knife around the edge of the tins and turn the cakes out onto a cooling rack. With an electric whisk beat double cream with icing sugar until fairly stiff. Place one of the cakes on a plate and spread a thin layer of cream on the top. Stand a ring of Heart Marshmallows around the edge on top of the cream. 7 8 TOP TIP Decorate with Wafer Daisies at Spring time or Giant Chocolate Stars for birthdays! Dad Blog UK dadbloguk.com Put 150g of the cream in a separate bowl, then mix in chopped strawberries and jam. Spoon this fruity filling into the space inside your marshmallows. Spread a thin layer of cream on the base of the other sponge and place it on top of your bottom layer. Cover the top with the remaining cream and decorate with Chocolate Hearts & Mini Wafer Daisies - Mmmm! 10
