Tequila is produced in a handful of Mexican states, exclusively from the blue agave plant. The Mexican government has a number of rules governing the production of tequila. One of the rules regarding purity states that for a spirit to be classified as tequila, it must have a minimum of 51% agave. The highest quality is made from 100% agave. Different tequilas vary in age. The age, along with purity, affects the taste profile. All margaritas at Rita s are made with triple sec unless an upgrade is chosen. We offer three sizes: 16 ounces, 32 ounces and 60 ounces. Plata (or silver) is your typical non-aged tequila with a flavor profile most closely matching the blue agave plant it was made from. Reposado (or rested) is aged a minimum of two months, has a bit more color and a more multi-faceted flavor profile. Añejo (or aged) is aged for a minimum of one year, typically has the darkest coloring and definitely has the most flavorful profile.
