1 Stake # 1 'Acme' Apple Z4; needs pollinator, Quite large, irregular flat-round shaped fruit. Pretty crimson flush and stripes over a smooth yellow skin. Crisp, juicy yellow flesh. Quite rich, fruity flavor. Stake # 2 'Akero' Apple Z4; needs pollinator, Medium to large, oval fruit. Pink flush over a pale primrose skin. Pale cream, juicy flesh. Refreshing flavor with a savory tang. Upright, vigorous tree. Very hardy. Good cropper. Stake # 3 'Baldwin' Apple Z4; Medium to large size, conical to round fruit with yellow base skin flushed with orange and striped red. A juicy, firm, sweet to sub acid flavor and aromatic, lateseason cooking apple. Stake # 4 'Beauty of Bath' Apple Z4; needs pollinator, Small to medium sized, flat round fruit. Attractive looking. Red flush and stripes over pale greenish yellow skin. Creamy white, soft, juicy flesh, sometimes stained pink under the skin. Distinctive, fairly sharp flavor. Does not store and should be eaten from the tree. Stake # 5 'Belle de Boskoop' Apple Z4; needs pollinator, Medium to large, round-conical fruit. Orange-red flush and stripes over a yellow skin. Up to three quarters of the skin covered by a fine ochre russet. Firm, rather dry, cream coloured flesh. Quite sharp in taste mellowing a little in storage. High Vitamin C content. Keeps its shape to some extent when cooked. Can also be cooked into a thick golden puree. Stores very well.

2 Stake # 6 'Blenheim Orange' Apple Z4; needs pollinator, Large, flat round fruit. Orange red flush and stripes over greenish yellow skin. Speckled with fine brown russet spots and patches. Creamy white flesh with a crumbly texture. Considered as one of the loveliest apples with a distinctive, dry, nutty flavor. Dual purpose. Cooks to a stiff puree. Stake # 7 'Bramley's Seedling' Apple Z4; needs pollinator, by far the most popular English cooking apple. Very good keeping quality retaining much of its acidity and flavor until the spring. Bramley's Seedling is widely used for cider making and also produces excellent sharp tasting juice. Stake # 8 'Caville Blanc' Apple Z4; needs pollinator, Medium sized, short-round-conical, heavily ribbed, five crowned fruit. Pale yellowish green skin. The skin is rough with small cracks and russet patches. Firm, cream colored flesh. Develops an intense sweet sharp flavor in storage. Has excellent flavor when cooked and keeps its shape. Cooked slices are an attractive yellow color. Stake # 9 'Laxton's Fortune' Apple Z4; best with a pollinator, Medium sized fruit. Short-round-conical shape. Distinct rounded ribs at apex. Red flush and short, broad, broken bright red stripes over a pale green background becoming pale yellow. Some russet patches. Creamy white flesh, moderately firm, juicy, sweet and lightly aromatic. Stake # 10 'Norfolk Royal' Apple Z4; needs pollinator. This must surely qualify as one of the best-looking apples - and it tastes great too. It has the classic English russet flavors, sweet and pear-like, with soft-chewy slightly dry flesh.

3 Stake # 11 Rheum rhabarbarum 'Crimson Red' Rhubarb (edible perennial) Z2; 3' T x 3' W; full sun; plump red stalks with the best flavor of any rhubarbs. Stake # 12 Anthriscus sylvestis 'Ravenswing' Ravenswing Cow Parsley Z5; T x W; dark purple finely divided leaves and white flowers, a hardy adaptable perennial for sun or shade, works will in dry soils, deadhead. Stake # 13 Vitis 'Dornfelter' Grape Ornamental Grape Z5; 26" T x 5' W, full sun; best in well drained soil, produces giant leaves, deep red fall color- Primarily ornamental. Stake # 14 Opuntia arborescens v. viridiflorus Tree Cholla (Cacti) Z5; 3-4' T x 3-4' W; an unusual form with LOVELY apricot and green flowers. Stake # 15 Opuntia arenaria Sand Pricklypear (Cacti) Z5; 6" T x 24" W; full sun, yellow flowers, RARE and endangered due to urbanization, this one is an EVERBLOOMING species! Stake # 16 Opuntia fragilis (debreczyi) v. denuda Potato Cactus (Cacti) Z3; 4" T x 18" W; near-red flowers in June on a beautiful, dwarf cushion, very choice. Plump, round pads. No spines, tiny glochids-the friendly cactus.

4 Stake # 17 Opuntia humifusa v. inermis Spineless Pricklypear (Cacti) Z4; 6" T x 24" W; This Eastern Prickly Pear has delicate, single, lemon yellow flowers in mass in June. Glossy, deep green pads are virtually SPINELESS. Abundant red, juicy fruit in fall. Tolerates more water than any other cactus. Child and pet-friendly. Stake # 18 Opuntia schweriniana x basilaris Pricklypear hybrid (Cacti) Z4; 6" T x 24" W; this gorgeous hybrid occurred in the garden of Leo Chance in Colorado Springs. The luscious, plump blue pads sport very small red glochids. The gorgeous, candy-pink flowers in June are held snugly upon compact plants. Excellent in the rock garden or in a patio pot. Stake # 19 Opuntia x 'Red Gem' Garden hybrid (Cacti) Z4; 4" T x 18" W; an apparent hybrid between basilaris or aurea with fragilis! The small, round, 2-3" wide pads have very short spines and are fragile (pads break off easily). The petite, deep pinkish red flowers in June are abundant. Beautiful in the rock garden or in containers. Stake # 20 Agastache X 'Joyful' Hummingbird Mint (Perennial) Z5; 30" T x 36" W; full sun; huge pink flowers July-Oct attracts hummingbirds. Deer resistant. A new garden discovery RARELY offered.

Very attractive glaucous-grey leaves with orange & red spurred flowers. Stake # 28 Clematis columbiana Rock Clematis (Woody Perennial) Z3; 6-12'; part shade; alluring vine carries nodding, delicate blue flowers. One of our native clematis. Stake # 29 Delosperma 'Kelaidis' Mesa Verde Ice Plant (Perennial) Z4; 2" T x 12" W; sun/pt shade; flowers iridescent salmon pink all summer, vigorous, compact, & floriferous. Named after famed curator of Denver Botanical Gardens and given the Mesa Verde to touch our hearts here in SW Colorado. No garden should be without one. Stake # 30 Digitalis ferruginea Rusty Foxglove (Short-lived Perennial) Z5; 2-3' T x 1' W; sun/pt shade; flowers mottled bronze, leaves dark green, narrow, evergreen. An exotic and handsome perennial foxglove- deadhead or leave to seed freely in the garden. A most unusual foxglove.

7 Stake # 31 Digitalis grandiflora Large Yellow Foxglove (Perennial) Z5; 12-18" T x 12" W; pt shade; A confident perennial foxglove featuring large creamy yellow flowers patterned with brown on the inside-a great color combo to add intrigue to the flower garden. Blooms July-August it is the best yellow foxglove. Stake # 32 Digitalis lutea Straw Foxglove (Perennial) Z5; 12-18" T x 12" W; sun/pt shade; small yellow flowers cling tightly to one side of the stem. Remains perennial and self seeds. It is one attractive and tough little foxglove. Blooms July and August. Stake # 33 Euphorbia polychroma 'Bonfire' Bonfire Euphorbia (Perennial) Z5; 18" H x 36" W; sun/pt shade; Unusual plant that smolders all summer long with purple leaves, red brachts casting bright yellow flowers in spring. Deer and rabbit resistant, it's a great all season plant. Stake # 34 Genista lydia Lydia Woadwaxen (Woody Perennial) Z3; 12" T x 4' W; full sun; Fantastic electric yellow flowers all of May. Prefers hot sunny slopes and well-drained soil. Perfectly cascades itself over walls and is evergreen. Stake # 35 Gentiana parryi Mountain Gentian (Perennial) Z3; 6" T x 12" W; pt shade; A Colorado native rarely found available in plant form. Luscious flowers are a deep cobalt blue in July - August.

The flowers are golden yellow with red obverse, blooms mid-season, and on of the sturdiest daylilies with an elegant form. Stake # 42 Hymenoxys acaulis Sundancer Daisy (Perennial) Z4; 4" T x 6" W; full sun; Cheerful golder yellow flowers in April-June, excellent rock garden or trough plant. Stake # 43 Hypericum cf olympicum Mt Olympus St John's Wort (Perennial) Z5; 4-8" T x 8" W; full sun; Small oval grey-green leaves backdrop the clusters of starshaped bright yellow flowers. Blooms in June-July. A small, cheerful Hypericum, perfect in the perennial garden. Stake # 44 Iris missouriensis Blue Flag Iris (Perennial) Z3; 8-15" T x 10" W; full sun; Exotic blue striped flowers bring drama to the garden. Our beautiful, June blooming native Iris. Stake # 48 Melica nutans Mountain Melick (Ornamental Grass) Z5; 12-18" T x 18" W; pt shade; a graceful smaller grass with cute nodding spikelets. A grass for some shade; prefers some moisture. Stake # 49 Mimulus guttatus Monkeyflower (Perennial) Z3; 3-5" T x 12-18" W; full sun/pt shade; A native wildflower found along banks of streams in the mountains. A perfect yellow 'monkey face' in June-July. Prefers more shade and moisture at lower elevations. Will grow near water or boggy soil. Stake # 50 Muhlenbergia reverchonii 'Autumn Embers' Autumn Ember Muhly (Ornamental Grass) Z5; 24-36" T x 18-24" W; sun/pt shade; a cold hardy, native offering a show in Fall of finely textured bright reddish-pink seed heads, deer-resistant. Famous designer Lauren Springer raves about this grass!

A relatively rare endemic and showy alpine also great for troughs. Great for borders and light dry shade, flowers can also be apricot, white, or a mixture.
