1 List of products authorized for Pesach 5771 Sephardim only; Must be purchased before Pesach; New packages only List of Products for Pesach 5771/2011 During Pesach, our community preserves the highest standards of observance in terms of cleaning the house for Chametz and consuming exclusively Kosher for Pesach (KFP) products. Whenever possible, every product we buy should bear the KFP certification. The following products do not contain Chametz and are authorized for Pesach 5771, in case one cannot afford or cannot find the Kosher for Pesach certified products. The products mentioned in this list do not bear a special Kosher for Passover certification, but THEY MUST BE BOUGHT BEFORE PESACH AND CAN ONLY BE USED IF THE PACKAGE IS NEW AND UNUSED. The authorization of these products is only for Sephardim and it is based on information obtained from Kosher for Pesach lists elaborated by experts Orthodox rabbis. Rabbi Yosef Bitton.

3 FISH Frozen raw fish that contains any ingredient other than fish (except for water and salt) requires Passover certification. Fresh or frozen fish that contains no other ingredient other than fish (except for water and salt) does not require special Passover certification. FROZEN ATLANTIC SALMON from KIRKLAND (bearing OU) NUTS RAW NUTS from KIRKLAND: Raw almonds, Raw Walnuts, Raw Pecans (check that on the back of the package does not say May contain traces of wheat ). GROUND and INSTANT COFFEE During Pesach, we are NOT allowed to drink coffee from any coffee shop! INSTANT: Folgers regular, Taster s Choice regular all unflavored Coffee. GROUND & WHOLE BEAN: Folgers,Chock Full O'Nuts, Pathmark, Publix, all regular unflavored coffee. Decaffeinated coffee is not allowed without special certification. DATES: California Whole Medjul Dates: Bard Valley, Royal Medjool, Sun Garden, and Western Medjool. Regular variety: Calavo, Sunworld and Sun Glow brands Pitted and whole. OILS For Sephardim there are no restrictions in using any regular oils. Soy, canola or corn oil which is Kosher for year round such as: Mazola, Kirkland or Wesson, may be used for Pesach. Any Extra Virgin Olive Oil may also be used. LEMON / LIME Realemon lemon juice and Realime lime juice are acceptable. 4 SALT Any brand is permitted provided does not contain iodine, Maltodextrin or dextrose. Check the label. SUGAR Any brand white granulated cane sugar (not powdered) with no other additives is permitted. COCOA POWDER: Hershey s 100% pure cocoa JAMS AND JELLIES Only the following varieties of Smucker brand when purchased before Pesach: Simply Fruit Apricot Spreadable Fruit, Simply Fruit Peach Spreadable Fruit, Simply Fruit red Raspberry spreadable Fruit, Simply fruit seedless blackberry spreadable Fruit, Simply Fruit Red Raspberry Spreadable Fruit, Simply Fruit Seedless Red Raspberry Spreadable Fruit, Simply Fruit Seedless Strawberry Spreadable Fruit, Simply Fruit Strawberry Spreadable Fruit NOTE: Low Sugar varieties are not kosher for Passover PEANUT BUTTER Jif (Bearing regular OU certification) TEA Lipton regular or decaffeinated tea bags- are acceptable for Pesach, even without special certification. Nestea, Pathmark & Tetley and regular unflavored, non herbal, tea bags are permitted. MEAT: All fresh or frozen, raw unprocessed meat or poultry bearing reliable Kosher certification year round are Kosher for Pesach, except ground meat. Sausages, hamburgers, deli products, cold cuts, and any other processed meats must be certified Kosher for Pesach. BAKING SODA (Bicarbonate of Soda) No Passover Supervision necessary. 5 TOMATO PRODUCTS Tomato Diced or Crushed - Hunt's Tomato Paste - Hunt's Tomato Paste - Hunt's Tomato Sauce - Hunt's Tomato Juice - Publix brand when bearing OU Whole canned tomato - Hunt's TUNA FISH Only Starkist brand in Vegetable Oil SOY PRODUCTS Tofu, soy sauce and other soy products are not acceptable for Passover, except those certified, because they might use grain alcohol in the processing of the soybeans. Only this specific brand of soy drink is authorized: Soy Dream classic original MEDICAL NUTRITIONAL AND DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS Protein shakes and other drinkable food supplements and vitamins may contain Chametz, because many of them are made with fiber and or wheat. As such, they cannot be used for Pesach and cannot even be left at home in Pesach. 6 MEDICINES Any pill or capsule that is swallowed with water and it is not chewable and does not have any pleasant taste, could be taken in Pesach as needed. Following a list of other medicinal and hygiene products, most of them chewable pills or syrups, which do not contain Chametz derivative.
