3 Power Juicer Recipe Book RECIPE TIPS The simple recipes that fol include some new, creative combinations that are sure to please your friends and family. Thanks to the superior Power Juicer you will never miss out on essential vitamins and minerals. Preparing Fruits and Vegetables 1 Wash all produce thoroughly. Cut produce into pieces small enough to fit into the feed chute. 2 Peel fruit if it has thick and hard peel, e.g. pineapples, melons, oranges, grapefruits and raw beetroot. Remove the white skin from citrus fruits as it has a bitter aftertaste. 3 Remove melon seeds when possible, as they may escape through the top of the feed tube while juicing. 4 All fruits with large pits, hard seeds or stones such as nectarines, peaches, mangoes, apricots, plums and cherries must be pitted before juicing. 5 Ensure fruits such as strawberries are hulled before juicing and pears have their stalks removed. 6 Leafy greens, parsley, wheat grass, and sprouts should be bunched up into a small, tight ball and pushed through with food pusher. It is advised to juice them together with of other fruit and vegetables. 7 Ensure vegetables such as beetroot, carrots, etc. have all soil removed, are well washed and trimmed of leaves before juicing. 8 Bananas are not suitable for juicing; a clear juice cannot be obtained from them and residue left in the machine can clog the micro mesh filter. 9 A small amount of lemon juice can be added to apple juice to reduce oxydation and browning. 10 Juicer is not suitable for processing very hard and/or fibrous/starchy fruits or vegetables such as sugar cane. Using the pulp The remaining pulp left after juicing fruit and vegetables contains mostly fibre and cellulose, All images are for illustration purposes only. Actual products may vary. and can be used on the day to avoid loss of vitamins. Pulp can be used to add bulk to rissole mixtures, or thicken casseroles and soups. Fruit pulp can be simply placed in a heat-proof bowl, topped with meringue and baked in the oven for a simple dessert. Apart from consumption, pulp is a great additional in compost for the garden. 10 LIGHT LUNCH LIGHT LUNCH Power Juicer Recipe Book Chilled Gazpacho Makes four servings, about 170ml (6oz) each Made with fresh, ripe summer tomatoes, Chilled Gazpacho is perfect on a hot, summer night. 1 cloves peeled garlic 2 carrots 4 spring parsley 2 large rib celery 1 large cucumber peeled, halved lengthwise 1 medium red bell pepper cored and seeded 1 large jalapeño pepper cored and seeded 1 small onions peeled and trimmed 4 medium tomatoes cored and seeded 3 tablespoons sherry vinegar or lemon juice ½ teaspoon ¼ teaspoon salt black pepper freshly ground 3 tablespoon chopped fresh basil 1 cup crushed ice Process tomatoes, parsley, garlic, onion, carrots, celery, capsicum, jalapeno pepper and cucumber through the Power Juicer using HIGH and LOW speeds. 11 Power Juicer Recipe Book Vegetable Soup with Noodles Makes four servings LIGHT LUNCH Process tomato, onion, carrots and green pepper through juicer using HIGH and LOW speeds. 1 small tomatoe 1 small onion peeled and trimmed 2 carrots 1 green bell pepper cored and seeded 20g butter 1 tablespoon wholemeal flour 375ml vegetable stock 425G canned white beans 1 packet noodles black pepper freshly ground All images are for illustration purposes only. Actual products may vary. Melt butter in a large saucepan over a medium heat. Stir in flour, cook for one minute, stirring constantly. Add the extracted juice, vegetable stock and beans. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and al simmering for 10 minutes. Add noodles until noodles are tender. Pour into 4 soup bowls, sprinkle with black pepper to taste and serve immediately. 11

12 WHAT TO DO WITH THE PULP Power Juicer Recipe Book The pulp from juiced fruit contains all the fibrous material and is full of nutrients which should not be wasted. Add it to bread, cakes, muffins, soups or stews. Sneak it into pasta sauces for children who are fussy eaters; they will never know it s there. Carrot, Apple and Celery Strudels Makes 8 servings 30g 1small butter onion finely chopped 4 ½ cups carrot, apple & celery pulp strained (Rise and Shine juice recipe on page 4) 250g cottage cheese 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint 1 beaten egg 12 sheets filo pastry 60g 1cup melted butter fresh Parmesan cheese grated Melt butter in a saucepan, add onion, and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until soft. Add seasoning to taste. Combine onion, carrot, apple and celery pulp, cottage cheese, mint and egg in a bowl. Mix well. Cut filo sheets in half, and set 3 sheets aside. Cover remaining pastry with greaseproof paper, then damp cloth on top to prevent drying. Brush 1 sheet of pastry with melted butter, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, top with another sheet of pastry, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with more cheese. Repeat with last sheet of pastry. Place tablespoons of carrot mixture on one end of pastry, fold in sides and roll up like a swiss roll. Repeat with remaining pastry and pulp mixture. 13 Power Juicer Recipe Book Spaghetti Bolognese Makes 4 servings 1 tablespoon oil 50g 250g lean beef mince 2 rashers of smoked bacon chopped 1 onion chopped 2 cloves of garlic crushed vegetable pulp tomato, celery, carrot, courgette 2 tablespoons tomato puree 1 tablespoon oregano 1 cup red wine 150ml 1 tin chopped tomatoes beef stock salt and pepper freshly ground cooked spaghetti parmesan cheese Heat the oil over a high heat in a large frying pan and add the bacon. Cook until it becomes a little crispy. Add the beef mince and season the meat with salt and pepper. Cook until brown. Remove the minced beef from the pan and set aside. Reduce the heat and add the onion and garlic to the pan. Gently fry until the onion has softened slightly. Add the vegetable pulp, tomato puree, oregano and red wine, and cook for 2 minutes. Add the mince back to the mixture along with the chopped tomatoes and beef stock, and mix well. Reduce the heat down and simmer for 45 minutes or until the meat is tender and the liquid has reduced. 14 Power Juicer Recipe Book Carrot Cake Pancakes Makes 15 pancakes 160g plain flour 100g sugar 2 teaspoons baking power 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon mixed spice ¼ teaspoon salt 125g carrot pulp 180ml buttermilk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 large eggs beaten butter for frying to serve Greek yogurt or syrup In a mixing bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, mixed spice and salt and stir well to combine and break up any small lumps of sugar. Add the carrot pulp and stir well to combine. Mix the buttermilk, vanilla and eggs together and add to the dry ingredients stir thoroughly to mix. Heat a large frying pan over a moderate heat and add a small amount of butter until it sizzles, add a tablespoon of batter for each pancake. Turn the pancakes over when small air bubbles appear on the surface. Cook until they are golden brown and springy on both sides, serve with Greek yogurt and syrup. 14 All rights reserved. 15 Power Juicer Recipe Book Berry and White Chocolate Mousse Makes 6 servings 200g 200g 200g white chocolate stawberry pulp raspberry pulp 3 teaspoons gelatine 300ml ¼ cup dissolved in ¼ cup hot water 3 egg yolks thickened cream icing sugar sifted 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier (liquor) Melt chocolate over hot water. Cool it down; however be careful not to let it set. Combine strawberry pulp and raspberry pulp, set aside. Mix chocolate, gelatine and egg yolks, and whisk until pale and glossy. Beat cream until soft peaks form, fold through chocolate mixture with berry pulp and Grand Marnier. Pour into a wet ramekins. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. 16 Power Juicer Operation Manual Speed setting USE 1 for speed - to juice softer produce 2 for high speed - to juice harder produce PULSE for grinding and short, powerful impulse movements After using the Power Juicer, always move the switch into the 0 setting and disconnet from the mains socket. Care and cleaning 1 Unplug the juicer and then er the safety locking arm to unlock the lid. 2 Remove the juicer cover and scrape any excess pulp into the pulp container. 3 Remove the pulp container by tilting it back. Empty and clean thoroughly. 4 Remove the mesh filter by lifting the juicing bowl; this will unlock the mesh filter. 5 Thoroughly clean the fine mesh of the micro mesh filter, ideally with a brush. Ensure that the fine mesh holes are not blocked. (If the micro mesh filter cannot be cleaned immediately after use, soak the filter in hot soapy water immediately after you finish juicing.) 6 Clean all the parts in contact with food using warm soapy water and a soft brush. 7 Never immerse the motor block in water. Wipe the motor cloth clean with a damp cloth and dry immediately with a soft cloth to avoid scratches and water marks on the surface. Wiring UK plugs The product must be earthed. It has a 13A BS1362 fuse in a 13A BS 1363 plug. To replace the plug, fit the green-yel wire to or E, blue wire to N and the brown wire to L. Fit the cord grip. If in doubt, call an electrician. Do not use a nonwireable plug unless the fuse cover is in place. If you remove the plug, dispose of it. Environmental protection To avoid environmental and health problems due to hazardous substances in electrical and electro nic goods, appliances marked with WEEE symbol mustn t be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste, but recovered, reused or recycled. Service The product is not user serviceable. If it is not working, read the instructions, check the plug fuse and main fuse/circuit breaker. If it is still not working, consult your retailer. If that does not solve your problem, ring Customer Services - they may be able to offer technical advice. If they advise you to return the product to us, pack it carefully, include a note with your name, address, day phone number, and description of the problem. 19 Important Safeguards IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be foled including the foling: 1 Read all instructions before using. 2 To protect against risk of electrical shock do not put the unit in water or any other liquid. 3 Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used around children. 4 Unplug from the mains socket when the appliance is not in use, or before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Power Juicer Operation Manual 15 Do not leave this appliance unattended during use. 16 Do not operate the juicer without the pulp container in place. 17 The mesh filter is very sharp. Handle very carefully. Do not use the juicer if the rotating mesh filter is damaged. 18 Do not put your fingers or other objects into the juicer chute while it is in operation. If food becomes lodged in opening, use food pusher or another piece of fruit or vegetable to push it down. 19 Do not juice stone fruit unless seeds and/or stones have been removed. 20 Do not operate juicer longer than 20 seconds before inserting ingredients. 21 Do not operate the appliance continuously with heavy loads for more than 10 seconds. Al the motor to rest for 5 minutes between each use. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Before first use 1 Carefully wash and dry all parts which come into contact with food lid, food pusher, stainless steel micro mesh filter, juicing bowl, pulp container and juice jug. Wipe the main body with a damp cloth. 2 Take out the required length of cable and connect the device to the mains supply. Operating your appliance 1 Ensure that the juicer is correctly assembled. The juicer jug is placed under the juice spout, and pulp container is in position before commencing juicing. 2 Plug the cable to the mains socket and turn the power ON at the power outlet. Adjust the speed to the desired setting.. 3 With the motor running, place food into the feed chute. Use the food pusher to gently guide food down, and extract the maximum amount of juice.
