Fine foliage, tolerates hard sites Carex buchananii Attractive upright tussock like plant with dark bronze purple leaves. Narrow graceful form, hardy to wind and cold, most soil types. Carex comans Densely tufted tussock grass, weeping leaves that start off green and lighten towards the top. Carex comans Bronze Densely tufted tussock grass, with bronze leaves, bleached and curled at the ends. Carex comans Frosted Curls Densely tufted tussock grass, pale green leaves that whiten towards the top. Carex dipsacea Tahoata Upright green tussock growing to 1 metre tall. Suits most conditions. Carex secta Sedge Grass Large sedge grass, grows in damp places, edges of bogs and swamps, and in water along stream margins. Carex testacea Loosely tufted clump forming tussock with distinctive green and brick orange foliage. Hardy to cold and wind, grows in most soils.

Pittosporum tenuifolium Wrinkled Blue Vigorous upright habit. Small silvery-green wrinkled leaves. Hardy, tolerates the cold. 5 metres.

Good shelter tree, deciduous 8m. Pseudopanax crassifolius In the juvenile form it has a single stem with long leaves hanging downwards. In its adult form it has a thick leaved rounded head on a straight bare trunk. Can reach 4-6 metres. 2.5 litre $14.00 Lancewood or horoeka Pseudopanax ferox Similar to Pseudopanax crassifolius but leaves are deeply serrated or toothed.
