DAY 1 PEANUT BUTTER KISS COOKIES Like good web design, Katie s cookies look great, deliver taste and substance, and the recipe is easy to navigate. 1 package of Hershey s kisses 1 cup Skippy creamy peanut butter 1 cup sugar + ¼ cup sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1. Mix peanut butter, 1 cup sugar, egg and vanilla together in a medium sized mixing bowl. Place dough in fridge and refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour. 2. While waiting for dough to chill, line cookie sheets with parchment paper, and pour ¼ cup sugar into a small bowl and set aside. 3. After dough has chilled, roll it into small tablespoon sized balls. Then, roll dough balls around in the small bowl of sugar. 4. Place on parchment lined cookie sheets, approx. 2 inches apart. Do not flatten dough balls! Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. 5. Immediately after removing cookies from the oven, carefully place a Hershey s kiss in the center of each cookie and gently push down. Allow cookies to cool slightly and ENJOY! 4
DAY 2 CROCK-POT CRANBERRY BBQ MEATBALLS Katie s recipe is short and sweet just like a good social media. post #yum. 1-2 packages of frozen meatballs 1 bottle of spicy BBQ sauce 1 can of whole cranberry sauce 1. Mix meatballs, BBQ sauce and cranberry sauce in crock-pot. 2. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. 3. Serve with toothpicks as an appetizer, or straight from the slow cooker as a side dish! 5
DAY 3 CHOCOLATE BUTTER LOGS Strategic market research layers analysis, key findings and recommendations for a result almost as delectable as Margaret s cookies. 1 cup butter, softened ½ cup powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. almond extract 2 cups all-purpose flour Multicolored nonpareils or sprinkles, optional 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1. Preheat oven to 350. In mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar; add extracts, mixing well. Gradually add flour; mix well. Shape teaspoonful of dough into 2-1/2 x ½-inch logs; place on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten logs diagonally with fork dipped in flour; sprinkle tops with nonpareils or sprinkles, if desired. 2. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned on bottom edges. Cool on wire cooling racks. In saucepan or microwave, melt chips; spread thin layer over bottom of each cookie. Place top side down on waxed or parchment paper; let stand until chocolate hardens. Makes about 4 dozen. 6
DAY 4 HOT APPLE CIDER TODDY When you want to draw attention and create fans, you bring Nicole s toddy to the party. Just like a good product launch. 3 cups apple cider 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, softened ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 8 graham crackers 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice 2 teaspoons rum 2 cups whipped topping 4 whole cinnamon sticks 4 shots bourbon whiskey 1. Heat the cider in a saucepan. 2. Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, ground nutmeg, cinnamon, and ground cloves in a small bowl until the spiced butter becomes creamy. In a plastic baggie, crush the graham crackers and pumpkin pie spice with a rolling pin. Combine the rum with the whipped cream. 3. Select your favorite holiday mug and place a single cinnamon stick and a slice of spiced butter into it. Pour 1 shot of whiskey into the mug and ladle hot cider to fill it. Then, garnish with a dollop of rum-flavored topping and a sprinkle of either cinnamon or graham cracker crumble. Serve warm. 4. Makes 3-4 mugs. 7
DAY 5 CLASSIC SPRITZ COOKIES Bringing comfort like communications amid a crisis, Nicole s basic spritz cookies are a staple on every platter.. 1 cup butter, softened ½ cup sugar 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon baking powder 1 tablespoon milk 1 egg ¼ teaspoon almond or vanilla extract Food color, if desired 1. Heat oven to 375. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl. Stir in salt, egg, baking powder, milk and your choice of extract. Add flour slowly. 2. Separate the dough into batches and add food coloring to each as desired. Then place the dough into a spritz cookie press and select your favorite designs. Squeeze the cookie press to form desired shapes on an ungreased cookie sheet. Add sprinkles or any other decorations you desire. 3. Bake 8-10 minutes or until set but not brown. Let cookies cool on wire rack. Enjoy! 8
DAY 6 PEANUT BUTTER CUP COOKIES Margaret s peanut butter cookies remind us of a sweet, creative morsel of a story idea cooked up by good media relations. 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1 egg, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons milk 40 miniature chocolate covered peanut butter cups, unwrapped 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda; set aside. 2. Cream together the butter, sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla and milk. Add the flour mixture; mix well. Shape into 40 balls and place each into an ungreased mini muffin pan. 3. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into each ball. Cool and carefully remove from pan. 9
DAY 7 FESTIVE HOLIDAY SUGAR COOKIES Whether you re dressing up Nicole s version of this holiday classic or your brand, the right mix of planning and creativity help it shine. 1 ½ cups powdered sugar 1 cup butter or margarine, softened 1 egg ½ teaspoon almond extract 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 ½ cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda Frosting and sprinkles as desired! 1. Blend powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract and egg. Slowly stir in flour and baking soda. 2. Refrigerate, covered, for at least 3 hours. 3. Divide dough in half and roll each half 3/16 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to form assorted holiday shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. 4. Heat oven to 375 F. Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until light brown. Cool on a cooling rack for 30 minutes. 5. Decorate as desired! 10
DAY 8 SLOW COOKER CINNAMON SUGAR CANDIED ALMONDS Margaret s melt-in-your-mouth almonds convert fans in one delicious bite, the way good media training converts your messaging into news sound bites. 1 ½ cups sugar 1 ½ cups light brown sugar 3 Tablespoons cinnamon ⅛ teaspoon salt 1 egg white 2 teaspoons vanilla 4 ½ cups raw almonds ¼ cup water Spray your slow cooker with non-stick spray and set aside. 2. In a large bowl, add the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk together. 3. In another large bowl, add the egg white and vanilla and whisk until frothy. 4. Pour the almonds in the egg mixture and toss them around to coat thoroughly. 5. Pour the coated almonds into the sugar mixture and toss to coat. 6. Pour the entire mixture into the slow cooker and turn to low. 7. Cook for hours, stirring every 20 minutes. It will look like not much is happening for a long time but your house will smell good! 8. After 3 hours, pour in the ¼ cup of water and stir well. This is going to make the crunchy coating and things will start looking right. Leave in the slow cooker for another minutes. 9. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 10. When done, pour the almonds onto the prepared baking sheet and separate any that stuck together. Let them cool slightly to harden then enjoy!
DAY 9 SLOW COOKER CHILI Other than community relations, there s nothing quite like a chili dump with Katie s chili to bring people together. 1 lb. ground beef 1 can spicy chili tomato sauce 1 can diced chili tomatoes, undrained 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed Shredded cheddar cheese Saltine crackers with butter 1. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. 2. Add browned ground beef, tomato sauce, can of tomatoes and kidney beans to slow cooker. Cook on low. You can eat it as soon as it s warm, but the longer it cooks, the better it is! 3. Be sure to top it off with some shredded cheese, and feel free to dip your buttered saltine crackers into your bowl of hot, chili-goodness. 12
DAY 10 MEXICAN WEDDING CAKES Margaret's Mexican Wedding Cakes are the perfect mix of presentation and flavor. The same traits of great design and collateral. 1 cup butter, softened ½ cup powdered sugar ¼ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour Powdered sugar for coating 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. 2. Cream butter; add sugar gradually. Blend in salt, vanilla and flour (mixture will be stiff). Pinch off small pieces of dough; place on ungreased cookie sheets. 3. Bake at 400 degrees F. about 10 minutes. 4. While hot, roll in powdered sugar. Makes about 5 dozen. 13
DAY 11 HOLIDAY WINE PAIRINGS Pairing two good things comes naturally to us, whether it s connecting organizations and leaders through relationship marketing or enjoying our favorite wine and anything combinations! Pairing Options: Pinot Noir and Fenugreek Gouda Merlot and pretzels, with a fun dipping sauce Syrah and bacon-wrapped dates or water chestnuts Riesling and Frango mints Moscato and sea salt caramel chocolates 1.
