Double wall keeps the bowl cool and at an even temperature. Base Contains heavy-duty motor strong enough to handle Ice Cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, sorbet, and frozen drinks. Silicone Feet (not shown) Nonslip feet keep base stationary during use. Cord Storage (not shown) Unused cord is easily pushed into the base to keep counters neat and safe. 5 Operating your Ice Cream Maker, cont MAKING FROZEN DESSERTS OR DRINKS Use recipes from the pages that follow, or use your own recipe, making sure it yields 2.0L or less. Do not fill the freezer bowl higher than 1.5cm from the top as the ingredients will increase in volume during the freezing process. For best results, prepare ingredients in a container from which it is easy to pour. 1. Remove the freezer bowl from the freezer. (Remove plastic bag if you have wrapped freezer bowl). 2. Place freezer bowl on the centre of the base. 3. Note: Bowl will begin to defrost quickly once it has been removed from freezer. Use it immediately after removing from freezer. 4. Place mixing arm in freezer bowl. Arm does not fit tightly. It rests in the centre of the bowl, with the circle side facing up. 5. Place lid on base. Easy-lock lid mechanism allows lid to rest on base in multiple positions(see diagram). 6. Pour ingredients through the ingredient spout. 7. Immediately turn ON/OFF switch to ON position. Freezer bowl will begin to turn. 8. Frozen desserts or drinks will be done in minutes. The time will depend on the recipe and volume of the dessert or drink you are making. 9. When the mixture has thickened to your liking, it is done. If you desire a firmer consistency, transfer the dessert or drink to an airtight container and store in the freezer for two or more hours. 10. Note: Do not store frozen desserts or drinks in the freezer bowl. Desserts and drinks will stick to the side of the freezer bowl and may damage the bowl. Store only in a plastic airtight container. ADDING INGREDIENTS Ingredients such as chocolate chips and nuts should be added about 5 minutes before the recipe is complete. Once the dessert or drink has begun to thicken, add the ingredients through the ingredient spout. Nuts and other ingredients should be no larger than a chocolate chip. SAFETY FEATURE The Ice Cream Maker is equipped with a safety feature that automatically stops the unit if the motor overheats. This may occur if added ingredients (nuts, etc.) are in extremely large pieces. To reset the unit, turn the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Let the unit cool off. After a few minutes, you may turn the unit on again and continue making the dessert or drink. CLEANING AND STORAGE Clean the freezer bowl, mixing arm and lid in warm soapy water. DO NOT PUT FREEZER BOWL IN THE DISHWASHER. DO NOT CLEAN WITH ABRASIVE CLEANSERS OR IMPLEMENTS. Wipe motor base clean with damp cloth. Dry all parts thoroughly. Store in a dry place. Store upright.
6 Recipes RECIPE TIPS READ BEFORE YOU START Some recipes use ingredients that need precooking. Please ensure they are cooled overnight or over an ice-bath prior to adding to the mixture. Low fat ice cream may be made by substituting lower fat milk as well as a higher quantity of milk to cream. Note the higher fat content increases the creaminess of the frozen dessert. Using lower fat substitutes may change the texture and the taste of the provided recipe. Ensure you use the same quantity of liquid the recipe asks for ie if the recipe asks for 2 cups of cream you may use 1 cup cream and 1 cup milk. Any recipe can be altered to your taste by adding additional ingredients. As an example, plain vanilla ice cream can have crushed biscuits added to create cookies and cream, substitute the vanilla essence for peppermint and add chopped up after dinner mints or add marshmallows, chocolate and chopped nuts for rocky road. Note the added ingredients should never exceed ¾ cup and the size of any additives should be no larger than a chocolate chip. BASIC VANILLA ICE CREAM (A good basic ice cream that can be altered to create any number of flavours) 1 ½ cups full cream milk 1 cup white sugar 3 cups cream 1 tablespoon vanilla essence In a mixing bowl add the milk and the sugar and mix with a hand mixer on low speed until the sugar is dissolved. Add all other ingredients and mix to combine. The ice cream will have a soft-serve consistence. If a firmer consistency is desired, put it into a plastic container and freeze for at least 3 hours. STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM 1 ½ cups full cream milk 1 ½ cups white sugar 3 cups cream 2 tsp vanilla essence 3 cups fresh strawberries with stems removed and chopped 3 tablespoons lemon juice In a small bowl combine the strawberries, lemon juice and ½ cup sugar. Stir gently and sit for 2 hours. Strain the berries and retain the juice. Mash the berries. In a mixing bowl combine the milk and the remaining sugar and mix with a hand mixer on low speed until the sugar is dissolved. Add the cream, strawberry juice, strawberries and vanilla and mix to combine. Any additional ingredients can be added 5 mins prior to completion by adding through the top spout. The ice cream will have a soft-serve consistence. If a firmer consistency is desired, put it into a plastic container and freeze for at least 3 hours. Note: This recipe can be altered to accommodate most fresh fruit.
7 Recipes DOUBLE DARK CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM This ice cream is using the cooked custard method which ensures a super rich and creamy texture. 2 cups full cream milk 1 cup white sugar 2 ½ cups cream 1 vanilla bean 3 tsp vanilla essence 2 large egg yolks 350g dark chocolate chopped small 1 cup Dutch cocoa 2 large eggs In a saucepan add the milk and the cream and add the vanilla bean seeds and the vanilla pod. Simmer the mixture over a very low heat for Remove the vanilla bean pod. In a mixing bowl add all other ingredients except the chocolate and the vanilla essence. Using a hand mixer, mix until thick. With the mixer on low slowly. Add I cup of the hot milk mixture and mix until fully incorporated. Add the chocolate to the rest of the hot milk and stir until dissolved. Add the egg mixture to the hot milk mixture and cook over low heat stirring all the time until the mixture thickens and looks like a thick chocolate custard. Transfer to a mixing bowl and add the vanilla essence. Cover with cling film and refrigerate until cold. 1 ½ cups full cream milk ¾ cup white sugar 2 cups cream 1 ½ tsp vanilla essence ½ cup peanut butter (preferably crunchy) In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and the sugar using a whisk. Add the milk and mix on low speed until the sugar has dissolved. Add all other ingredients and mix to combine. Any additional ingredients can be added 5 mins prior to completion by adding through the top spout. (This recipe works well with the addition of ¼ cup chocolate chips) The ice cream will have a soft-serve consistence. If a firmer consistency is desired, put it into a plastic container and freeze for at least 3 hours. Any additional ingredients can be added 5 mins prior to completion by adding through the top spout. The ice cream will have a soft-serve consistence. If a firmer consistency is desired, put it into a plastic container and freeze for at least 3 hours. PEANUT BUTTER ICE CREAM
8 Recipes FROZEN YOGHURT This basic recipe can be altered to create any number of taste sensations by adding ingredients such as maraschino cherries, chocolate, mixed berries etc. 4 cups light vanilla yoghurt 1 ½ cups whole cream milk ½ cup white sugar 1/2 cup cream 1 tablespoon vanilla essence In a mixing bowl add the milk and the sugar and mix with a hand mixer on low speed until the sugar is dissolved.
