4 Sweet stuff Sweetbird Ice-blended Smoothies are a must-have for any successful summer menu. 6 Fuss-free Frappés We love Zuma Frappé mixes. The 7 flavours are not only delicious on their own, they can be used with other products to make a huge range of drinks helping you stay ahead of the competition and develop your own signature recipe. This summer we are pleased to be introducing the new Cookies & Cream Zuma Frappé plus refill packs for both the Vanilla Bean and Caffé Frappés. These 1kg pouches can be used to top-up your tin, meaning less packaging better for the environment and better for your wallet. Add a splash of Sweetbird Syrup to any Frappé mix to create whole new drinks iced cherry mocha anyone?

7 The cookie crumbles Drum roll please! This summer sees the launch of a new, award-winning addition to the Zuma Frappé range: Cookies & Cream! For a little extra wow factor, turn this into a signature drink by crumbling a cookie on top and serving another on the side for an indulgent treat. The new frappé impressed judges at the SCAE World of Coffee in Nice, scooping the prize for Best New Product in the noncoffee beverage category. Made with real pieces of chocolate cookie, it s not hard to see why! Just blend with ice and milk for a seriously cool treat - and a sensational addition to any summer menu. As with all the other products in the Zuma range, the Cookies & Cream Frappé is free from artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, GMOs, high fructose corn syrup and has been approved by the Vegetarian Society. Each 2kg tin provides enough powder to make 50, 12oz servings. Also available in the Zuma Frappé range are: Vanilla Bean, Caffé, Chocolate, Mocha, Sticky Toffee and Yogurt.

9 Sweet Summer suggestions... Breakfast Berry Yogurt Shake Fill cup with ice, pour over 3 / 4 milk and 1/ 4 Sweetbird Naturally Sweetened Berry smoothie. Add 1 scoop Zuma Yogurt Frappé and blend until smooth. Pour back into the cup to serve. Classic Banana Milkshake Half fill cup with ice, add 3 pumps Sweetbird Banana syrup and top up with milk. Pour into blender and blend with half a scoop of Zuma Vanilla Bean Frappé. Pour back into cup to serve. Peaches n Cream Fill cup with ice, add 1 / 3 water and top up with Sweetbird Peach smoothie. Pour into blender jar and add 1 scoop of Zuma Vanilla Bean Frappé. Blend until smooth and pour back into cup to serve. White Chocolate Cherry Iced Mocha Fill cup with ice, top up with milk and pour into blender jar. Add espresso, 2 pumps of Sweetbird White Chocolate syrup, 1 pump Sweetbird Cherry syrup and 1 scoop Zuma Vanilla Bean Frappé. Blend until smooth. Pour back into cup and serve. How about a cherry on top?! Old-fashioned Pink Lemonade Half fill cup with ice, ¾ fill with Sweetbird Lemon Smoothie, add 1 pump of Sweetbird Raspberry syrup and top up with still or sparkling water. Stir and serve with a slice of lemon. Apple Pie Latte Combine 1 pump of Sweetbird Toffee Apple syrup and 1 pump Sweetbird French Vanilla syrup with a double espresso in a cup, top up with steamed milk and serve dusted with brown sugar and cinnamon. Long Island Iced Tea Fill cup with ice, add 4 pumps Sweetbird Jasmine Lime Iced Tea syrup, 1 shot gin, 1 shot white rum, half shot triple sec and half shot vodka. Top with sparkling water, stir and serve with a wedge of lime. Taste of the Tropics Fill cup with ice, pour over Sweetbird Mango smoothie (original or naturally sweetened) to 2 / 3, top up with water and pour into blender. Add 4 pumps of Sweetbird Chilli syrup and 1 pump Sweetbird Lime syrup, blend until smooth. Pour back into the cup (or half a coconut!) For hundreds of other recipe ideas visit

10 Nice ice baby The British are renowned for their love of tea, but even they need something refreshing and cool on a hot summer s day. These high margin iced teas come in 6 delicious flavours and can be made up in jugs and stored in the fridge for even speedier service.

11 Add some flavour to your life Cherry, Oh Baby, Orange Crush, Lime in the Coconut, The Lemon Tree all great songs that we like to think were in some way an ode to the wonderful range of flavours of Sweetbird Syrups. Was Fats Domino thinking about Blinging Blueberry Granita when he penned the famous Blueberry Hill? Quite possibly. Did Prince, for fear of mocking, substitute the word latte for beret? We like to think so. Whatever the truth, this inspiring range will have you aching to try out new recipes to introduce to your menu even if your guitar playing isn t quite ready for its debut. 12 All coffee on the south-western front... Beyond the Bean may operate in over 40 countries but we are proud to be from Bristol and to see the emergence of a wonderful home-grown coffee quarter. Wandering though the old part of the city is a lovely way to spend a day, taking in the great cafés, coffee shops and espresso bars the city has to offer. We took a stroll around Corn Street and thoroughly recommend a visit to all of the businesses featured here. 14 Chocolate fix It s not all iced teas and smoothies in summer, sometimes only a soul warming hot chocolate will do. Try making up hot chocolate powder to a paste with hot water as per usual, but then use cold milk the ultimate chocolate milkshake extravaganza. Alternatively take advantage of summer strawberries by offering a punnet with a shot glass of Zuma Belgium Chocolate Flake ganache topped with whipped cream for dipping. Too much? We didn t think so either. Whether you prefer your chocolate dark, white, thick or thin, the Zuma range has a chocolate for you. Or, add some spice with Zuma Chai s. Great for an Indian summer, non?

15 From beans to cups the Beyond the Bean story Now operating in over 40 countries, Beyond the Bean has come a long way since its humble beginnings of a few small coffee bars in Bristol. Founded in 1997, before long the home office supplying specialist barista equipment turned into a small warehouse filled with syrups, smoothies, hot chocolate and frappes - plus all the other great products Beyond the Bean is now famous for. Flash forward to Jem and Nikki still own, and love, the business they have built from scratch. They are supported by the fantastic team at BTB HQ in Bristol and Los Angeles a team full of knowledge and passion for the BTB range. 16 BYRON BAY cookies Let the Sunshine in We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day (closely followed by the obligatory mid-morning cookie) and while we all aim to have a hearty morning meal during the working week it can be rather difficult. Byron Bay Cookie Co. have put their heads together and developed a healthy alternative which is significantly lower in sugar (per portion) than other well-known brands. Made with low GI ingredients such as rolled oats, sultanas, cranberries and pumpkin seeds, there has never been a better excuse to enjoy a cookie for breakfast. 17 Tool up As thoughts turn to the 2013 World Barista Championship in Melbourne there is no better time to get yourself and your staff properly trained and kitted out. Ask your coffee or machine supplier for hands-on training. Knowing as much as you can about the art of the barista is crucial to the success of a coffee shop if you are not making the best coffee you can, your competitors could be. We supply some of the top baristas with the tools of their trade, along with all the other necessities such as straws, plastic cups and lids in fact everything you ll need for a long, hot summer. Get your staff involved with developing your drinks menu give them the opportunity to come up with seasonal specials and share ideas for the business to make them feel valued.
