1 thing. Everyone has heard the saying: the thing since sliced bread. Surely then, at some point, sliced bread was the most groundbreaking product in the world the original innovation. First sold in 1928, sliced bread was advertised as the forward step in the baking industry since bread was wrapped. In building a website to introduce the product, I would play off the visual language of modern technology like the iphone/ipod (forward steps in the existing phone/music industries), which is always presented in an extremely epic, modern, and revolutionary light. site would be fun, interactive, a little cheeky, and glamorize this product which we still incorporate into our hyperbolic vocabulary today but so seldom think of as a real modern breakthrough, which it hilariously was at some point. site would discuss the history of sliced bread and its anticipated (actual) effects. Sliced bread results in uniform and somewhat thinner slices, so people can eat more slices of bread at a time, and eat bread more frequently due to the ease of eating another piece of bread. concept of pre-sliced bread could seem frivolous and useless to a society which has never known it before, so the website would really have to sell it as something cool, new, and necessary. website could play off the visual and interactive elements of slicing and division, as well as the playful/cartoonish/young identity of bread brands like Wonderbread.

2 User stories. Meet Helen. Helen is a mother and housewife who has three kids. She packs their lunches every day with homemade sandwiches. She is used to buying loaves of bread and slicing them herself as needed. Helen is looking for faster ways to prepare her childrens lunch. She stumbles across a link for, and navigates the site by scrolling the home page with the intention of finding out how the product can expedite her lunch-making process, while ensuring that the quality of the meal is not affected. Helen is focused on the facts, and the ease of gathering information from the website.

3 User stories. Meet Timmy. Timmy is an active young boy who eats large amounts of bread to replenish his energy throughout the day. Timmy s friend sends him a link to, and Timmy investigates the website to figure out how the product can make it easier for him to eat slices of bread throughout the day at the volume that he prefers. Timmy is focused on the visual impact of the website, and whether or not the product seems cool on first glance. He is a young boy after all, and probably will not spend too much time reading into the details beyond a few short descriptors.
