2 Shopping You will notice Snow Hill is a place where creativity and sophistication merge in a small town atmosphere to enhance rural living. Snow Hill's main shopping district is set along tree lined streets accented with flowering boxes and charming buildings that date to the late 19th century. The downtown features a variety of unique shops, galleries and working studios with friendly, old-fashioned shopkeepers who welcome you. You will be surprised at what you might find among the unique offerings in the stores. The creative spirit of the town is defined by the presence of art work displayed in our fine galleries and businesses around town. You will find a variety of styles in our photography, sculpture, pottery, and flat panel work from our very talented local and regional artists. Life is quiet and peaceful in this small historic town. Spend the night in one of the town's charming Bed & Breakfast Inns. Take a short drive to Assateague Island for a day at Maryland's pristine beach and look for the wild ponies that call Assateague home. Get the sand out of your shoes on your return and take a relaxing stroll around the downtown Arts & Entertainment District. Art is everywhere in Snow Hill, earning it a reputation as a fine arts center of the Lower Shore. Top off the afternoon with a service from Relaxation Heals or The Serenity Shoppe. As a restful and refreshing night, take a walk along the Pocomoke early in the morning. As the mist rises, you might see egrets flying or fish jumping out of the calm waters of the river. If you come into town from Route 113, stop by McDonald's on Market Street to pick up a quick bite. Also on Market Street Johnny I's is known for its handmade pizza and hoagies. Further up the street, The China Moon offers a variety of Chinese selections for eating in or for carrying out. The Emporium Dinette and Ice Cream on Pearl Street serves a variety of specials for breakfast and lunch except Sunday. Why not pick up a salad or delicious sandwich and head down to Sturgis Park for a restful picnic by the river? It's sure to add a bright spot to your day. Harvest Moon Tavern on West Green Street serves homemade food in a friendly relaxing atmosphere at a reasonable price. You will find plenty of room in the large bar area to watch sporting events. On West Green Street fine dining can be found on weekends at the Blue Dog Café which features vocal entertainment and a variety of delectable local seafood and vegetable dishes. The Palette Bistro & Bar offers intimate dining with a universal menu served in the new upstairs loft or in the downstairs dining area. You never know what wonderful dishes the chef has to offer. Each trip to the Palette is full of surprises and delicious cuisine made from local vegetables and fruits of the sea. The casual atmosphere is inviting and the service is warm and friendly. 4 Down Under Harvest Moon Tavern Things to Do Residents and visitors will find Snow Hill offers many recreational opportunities as well as sights to explore. The Pocomoke River provides great fishing, paddling, or pleasure boating. The three municipal parks along the river offer boat landings, boat dockage and public facilities. Byrd Park also has basketball courts and a playground. The Pocomoke River State Park also offers recreational opportunities as well as camping. For those interested in learning more about the history of Snow Hill and Worcester County, Furnace Town Living Heritage Museum off Rt. 12 and the Julia A. Purnell Museum on Market Street offer a look back in time. The Historic District Walking Tour provides a self-guided walk to see the town's architectural history. 5 Location In the middle of the mid- Atlantic states lies Snow Hill, an undiscovered gem in Worcester County. Snow Hill located near the intersection of Route 113 and Route 12 on Maryland s Eastern Shore. It is well worth the short drive off the beaten path to discover this special small town for yourself. From Berlin or Ocean City: (Driving time minutes) 1. Take US Route 50 to US Route Follow 113 at Berlin to Snow Hill, 15 miles 3. Take first exit to Snow Hill, bearing right 4. This exit comes in on East Market Street 5. Take a right onto Green Street before the light 6. Free Parking is located on the right From Salisbury: (Driving time 30 minutes) 1. Travel east on US Route 50 toward Ocean City 2. Take a right onto the Route 50/13 bypass South to Norfolk, VA 3.
