It is a dry, yet succulent wine with fresh acidity and fine texture. A lovely aperitif enjoyed on its own or with lighter foods such as antipasto, pate or fresh summer seafood Dalrymple Estate Pinot Pipers River, TAS $13 Evidence of a warmer vintage is immediately apparent; with the generous red berry fruit aromas, hints of fresh cut plums and fine oak spice. The entry onto the palate of soft red fruits with ripe tannin structure support the sense of a warm vintage. Savoury notes of dried meats and provencal herbs add to the complexity after opening, and will become more integrated with bottle age Nautilus Estate Pinot Southern Valleys Marlborough, NZ $16 At Nautilus our philosophy is to craft wines that are textural, complex and food-friendly, respecting and showcasing the unique Marlborough terroir. The 2015 Nautilus Pinot Noir is dark ruby in colour. The nose reveals gentle floral aromas, ripe wild blackberries, cherries and spices. The palate is medium bodied with good structure. Refined and balanced, this elegant wine shows good intensity and a lengthy finish Dalrymple Cottage Block Pinot Pipers River, TAS $22 Intense aromas of blueberries, plum skins, spice, earthy beets and defining red cherries. Concentration of flavours from the low cropping vintage are evident immediately. With a sweet fruit entry complexed by spice from French barriques and a whole bunch component this finishes with fine acidity and lingering dark fruits.

2 Tasting list Continue 100ml per serve 2016 Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Central Otago, NZ $ produced a Pinot Noir focused on earthy savouriness; mocha notes, and sweet brown spice elements overlaid earthy dark cherry. The wine displays line length and integrity. Savoury dark cherry notes alongside violet florals introduce the wine, this move into a linear elegant mid palate, out of which rise fine elegant textural tannins. Cherry notes frame the finish William Downie Mornington Peninsula, VIC $24 Bright and clear in the glass. The wine smells of raspberry, redcurrant, rose petals, poached rhubarb and cinnamon. The palate has more red fruits as well as blueberry and star anise. It is tight and very precise with chewy tannins and a fine texture. A pinot noir lover's pinot noir! 2017 William Downie Gippsland, VIC $24 This may be my favourite Gippsland bottling of recent years. It shows cherry, blackcurrant, damp red earth and wood spice on the nose. The palate has more black fruit as well as spice and some herbal undergrowth William Downie Yarra Valley, VIC $24 Slightly closed on pouring but opens with time in the glass. Aromas of rose petal, clove, orange blossom, cinnamon and plum. The palate is very fine and savoury. A lively and friendly wine that will develop nicely over time Domaine Faiveley Mercurey 1er Clos Des Myglands Nuits-St-Georges, France $24 This wine has stature and intensity, while at the same time, offers nuanced flavors with a very long finish.layers of earth, minerals, savory spices and dark fruits
