DESCRIPTION Sale winery in Montalcino Montalcino is an Italian town of 5,278 inhabitants in the province of Siena in Tuscany. It is famous for the production of Brunello wine. It ranks in the area north-west of Mount Amiata, at the end of the Val d\'orcia, on the administrative border with the province of Grosseto. The heart of the company is a beautiful house 800 carefully restored site in the town of Montalcino. The property covers a total area of about 90 hectares. The ground floor is made exclusively from the cellars with modern plants for winemaking, barrels for aging our tasting room. The Vineyards and the Company. The vineyards cover an area of almost 13 acres, all planted with Sangiovese Grosso, the clone that gives rise to Brunello di Montalcino; are situated at an altitude of 280 meters above sea level, position considered ideal for vineyards. The vines are planted at a distance of 3 meters (10 feet) to 1 meter (3.3 feet) of each other; this means 3,300 plants per hectare (1,335 per acre). The cultivation of vines is a "cordon" in order to better distribute the screws on the branches and at the same time promote good farming methods and quality. Farmers have carefully studied the exposure to the southwest. The climate is markedly Mediterranean with hot, dry summers, with brief rainfall in spring and autumn. The winters are harsh and the summer period, from 60 to 90 days, is characterized by a virtual absence of precipitation. The unusual breezes during the afternoons and evenings of the hot season protects the grapes from disease and mold. The soil is of Miocene and Cretaceous, so rich tuff, marl and fossils. The grapes ripen fully during the last 10 days of September and the first week of October, when it begins the harvest period. The harvest is done by hand with a careful selection of the best grapes. After about 15 days, during which the must have completed his active fermentation, the wine is decanted for about 6 months in stainless steel tanks, after which it is aged for three years in oak barrels and aged for two years in bottle. The farm in Montalcino produces three different types of wines: the famous "Brunello di Montalcino", a symbol of these lands and excellence Italian wine in the world; the "Sant\'Antimo", the red wine that takes its name from the nearby Abbey of Sant.
