WELCOME Hospitality is in our DNA. That sentence is inextricably linked to the Van der Valk family. Nicolaas van der Valk, father of 24 children, bought the rights to De Gouden Leeuw in Voorschoten in 1862 for 4000 guilder at an auction in het Wapen van Voorschoten. Youngest son Martinus, born in 1895, rebuild De Gouden Leeuw into a bar, later this venue was remodelled into a bar-restaurant. Martinus and his wife Rie, with their entrepreneurial drive, strived to accomplish 11 businesses for each of their 11 children. They were successful. With over a hundred hotels domestically and internationally, Van der Valk is one of the largest family businesses of the Netherlands. There are a number of branches soon to be opened or are still in construction. Almost all hotels are owned and lead by the descendants of Martinus and Rie van der Valk. Sinds 2001, Hotel Drachten is taken over by the Van der Valk family. Under supervision of Tjomme Langebeek and Corry van der Valk, the hotel has seen major transformations. Spring 2018, time for some changes! Effectively from march the 1st, Sjoerd Langebeek became part of the management team. Sjoerd, 26, has almost finished his master degree in hospitality management. After an internship at the Concervatorium hotel in Amsterdam and one year experience as assistent General Manager in Van der Valk Groningen-Hoogkerk, Sjoerd is slowly taking over the responsibilities of his parents. His brothers, Stijn and Derk, are currently leading the Groningen Hoogkerk location. In our hotels we strive to ensure a minimal taxation to the environment. Nearly all Van der Valk hotels have a Green Key quality label. Green key is an international certification for sustainable companies in the recreation and leisure industry and business market. Hotel Drachten is proud owner of the Green Key Gold Award! In our menu a variety of products are italic printed and are accompanied by a logo. HIGH TEA Every day you can come enjoy a nice High Tea in our brasserie. We will give you a warm welcome with a welcome cocktail. After this, you can enjoy a Variation of sweet treats as well as diverse savoury items, wraps and scones. The High Tea lasts two hours. In this time we will serve you unlimited tea varieties, but you can also opt for coffee. * Price: 14,50 per person Are there children among your company? They get to enjoy their own High Tea, including: Fresh fruit cocktail, two pancakes with syrup and powdered sugar, bottle of soda of their choice and a kid s ice cream. Price child 4 up and until 11 years old 8,50, child up and until 3 years old free. The High Tea is possible with two participants or more.
