All screenings and ID's to date are negative for the target species. *4 SWPM/Bark Beetle: 6,419 records were uploaded during January through June 2014, representing 40,148 negative insects submitted for analysis from 89 traps at 62 sites in 18 counties (Alachua, Bay, Brevard, Broward, Collier, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Nassau, Okaloosa, Orange, Palm Beach, Seminole, St Lucie, Sumter, Volusia). All samples were screened by CAPS Lab Technician Kate Okins, resulting in 12 new records: 6-NCR which were considered pests and were entered in NAPIS; 3-NCR which were not considered pests and were not entered in NAPIS; and 1-NSR and 2-NCR which are not yet entered in NAPIS. All results were negative for the 6 target species Hylurgops, Hylurgus, Monochamus, Tomicus destruens, Trypodendron, Xylosandrus (excluding counts for EAB, X. glabratus, GSOB, and Sirex, which are listed separately). Lab ID of survey samples is ongoing and data entry is in progress. All screenings and ID's to date are also negative for the 6 target species. *5 LW (part of DPI-LW & DPI-RBAB Survey): Seven (7) records were uploaded during January through June 2014, and both visual surveys for the disease and trapping surveys for the beetle were ongoing during this period. Seven (7) New County Records (NCR) were reported for LW disease during this period (Lee, Collier, Jefferson, Madison, Leon, Monroe, Lafayette). DPI-Plant Pathology reported 29 LW positives out of a total of 62 samples submitted from 18 counties (Bay, Brevard, Broward, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lake, Lee, Leon, Madison, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, Pasco, Putnam, St Lucie). The intensive trapping effort begun in March 2010 continues and was tracked by DPI personnel with bi-weekly checks of 50 traps in Miami-Dade County during this period. As of June 30, 2014, 1,188-X. glabratus beetles have been found in Miami-Dade County at 17 different locations, and at least 165-trees (86-swamp bay, 19-redbay, 60 avocado) have been confirmed positive for laurel wilt disease (also see *8 RBAB below). *6 SWPM/Sirex: 431 records were uploaded during January through June 2014, representing 908 negative insects submitted for analysis from from 18 traps at 18 sites in 11 counties (Bay, Brevard, Broward, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, St Lucie, Volusia), and screened by CAPS Lab Technician Kate Okins. All results were negative for Sirex noctilio. Lab ID of survey samples is ongoing and data entry is in progress.
