BRRRR ALERT!!! As colder weather sets in, please make sure that your student is dressed appropriately to play outdoors. Woodrow Wilson has outdoor recess unless the temperature (or wind chill) falls below 20 degrees. This means students will need gloves and hats to wear along with their warm coats. Don t forget to label your students belongings with their last name as things get misplaced easily. Veterans Day Parade Woodrow Wilson will once again be participating in the Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 12th Students, teachers, and all faculty/staff will be leaving school at 9:00am to go to the mall where they will join up with other organizations for marching. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and is wearing comfortable tennis shoes, no sandals or flip flops. Our office will be closed during this time. The parade will proceed from the mall, down Poyntz to City Park. Mrs. Augustine, our music teacher, has been teaching the students a song to perform along the parade route. Come on out and give a great big "GO WOLVES" and a THANK YOU, VETERANS, as they parade by. Reminder: Wear red, white, and blue. A special invitation is extended to any parent/guardian who is a veteran and/or active duty that would like to join us!! If your child would like to create a poster in recognition or memory of a family member they can carry it in the parade.

We see a variety of complaints in our schools, including vomiting, diarrhea, flu symptoms, strep throat, pink eye, colds, fevers, head lice. Overall good hygiene and especially good hand washing habits should be stressed by parents, teachers, and school nurses to all students. In an attempt to reduce the spread of illness and to avoid having parents make untimely trips to pick their sick child up at school, we ask that you review the following list of symptoms for which you should not sent your child to school. Please do not send your child to school if he/she: Has vomited or had diarrhea several times the night before or once in the morning Has a fever of 100 degrees or above Has a rash that has not been diagnosed or is uncomfortable Has itching, redness or pus draining from one or both eyes, not related to allergies Is coughing uncontrollably or coughing up mucus Has head lice that either has not been treated or live bugs are still present Call your physician if these symptoms last for more than 24 hours. Be sure to notify the school if your child will be absent. If your student is absent for three days or more a doctor s note is necessary. Please call your school nurse if you have questions or concerns.
