We call this apprach fd first. This includes: Fd frtificatin Snacks between meals Regular milky drinks Chsing high calrie and high prtein fds/fluids. Fd frtificatin will increase the calrie and prtein cntent f the diet. This will nt increase the prtin size but will aid weight gain and help t meet yur nutritinal needs. Milkshake (200 calries, 8g prtein) 140ml full fat milk 1 tablespn f dried skimmed milk pwder 1 tablespn milkshake pwder (any flavur) 1 scp ice cream Add the milkshake pwder and dried skimmed milk pwder t the milk and whisk t mix thrughly. Mix in the ice-cream (may need t be blended r left t sften s that it can be mixed easily). Fruit drink (200 calries) 100ml fruit juice 100ml lemnade (nn-diet variety) 1 scp srbet 1 tablespn sugar (we used range juice and lemn srbet but feel free t experiment) Blend all the ingredients tgether until smth. Fruit ygurt drink (370 calries, 13g prtein) 1 pt full fat fruit ygurt 130ml full fat milk 1 tablespn dried skimmed milk pwder 2 teaspns hney Mix the ingredients tgether and blend until smth Ht chclate (220 calries, 11g prtein) 200ml full fat milk 1 tablespn dried skimmed milk pwder 3 heaped teaspns drinking chclate Sugar t taste Warm the milk. Add the dried skimmed milk pwder, chclate pwder and sugar and mix tgether. Als try malted milk drinks, cffee made with frtified milk, fresh fruit juice r milk n its wn. These drinks will prvide mre energy and prtein than teas and cffees made with water r crdial/squash.

Tips fr increasing fd intake Have smaller meals but mre frequently thrughut the day Have nurishing snacks and drinks between meals D nt verfill a plate at meal times but try a smaller plate and keep the prtins smaller D nt fill up n lw energy, filling fds like fruit and vegetables unless they are served with cream, ice-cream r cheese sauce Ensure the envirnment yu are eating in is calm and peaceful Always try t have full-fat/sugar versins f fds, unless yu have diabetes Make fds lk attractive.
