COLD S'D)RAGE HOLDINGS OF FI - FEBJARY 1.1952 ALL FISH Stocks of all frozen fish. in Canada amounted to 34,765,000 lb. on February 1, 1952 s of which 33,045,000 lb. were frozen fresh and 197209000 lb, frozen smoked. In those figures estimates of 940,000 lb. frozen fresh and 160,000 lb, frozen smoked are included for firma failing to report on time. These holdings are lower by 9,432,000 lb. frozen fresh and by 299,000 lb, frozen smoked than those at January 1, 1952. Compared with February 1, 1951, figures they are lower by 3,532,000 lb, frozen fresh and 809,000 lb, frozen smoked. There was an "out-of-storage" movement for all classifications of 9.7 million pounds as compared with a similar movement of 8.2 million pounds during January, 1951, SEA F - COD Stocks of frozen cod, not including estimates for late firma, were 3,476,000 lb., consisting of 2,774,000 lb. frozen fresh and 702,000 lb. frozen smoked. The apparent net decrease during January was 1.0 million lb. as compared with a similar movement of 1.7 million lb. during January, 1951. The quantity reported as having been frozen during January was 1,554 9 000 ib., but no estimate is made for firms failing to report on time. )'sii.i Stocks of frozen haddock, not including estimates for late firms, totalled 1,273,000 lb. of which 1,087,000 lb. were frozen fresh and 186,000 lb. frozen smoked. Haddock holdings were 124,000 lb. lower than the stocks on hand last year, and 253,000 lb. lower than last month. There were 968,000 lb. reported as having been frozen during January, 1952. Frozen salmon stocks at February 1 were 9,007,000 lb. without estimating for late firma, as compared with 10,425,000 lb. last year and 12,656,000 lb last month The apparent net decrease during January was 3.6 million pounds as compared with a similar movement of 1.6 million pounds during the same month of 1951. Freezings during January were 35,000 lb. Frozen stocks of herring, including kippers, were reported as being 7,553,000 lb. of which 7,015,000 lb. were fresh and 538,000 lb. smoked. Last year at the same date the combined figure was 9,650,000 lb. This month's figures show a decrease of 444,000 pounds from last month's 8tocks. The quantity frozen during January was 884,000 lb. OIHXR SEA FI&I Other frozen stocks amounted to 9,357,000 lb., being reported as frozen fresh, 9,250,000 lb. and frozen smoked, 107,000 lb. All other sea fish reported as having been frozen during January totalled 1,765, 000 lb. INLAND FISH There were on hand 2,997,000 lb, of inland fish frozen fresh and 2 0 000 lb. frozen smoked. There were 141,000 lb, of inland fish frozen during the month of January, 1952.
