If she could be named one other name, it would be Marissa. Her dream vacation would be a tour of Europe. Mrs. Wiegman's favorite bible verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58, Therefore my dear brother, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that you know that your labor is not in vain. Mrs. Andrea Wiegman is one of our newest additions here at OCA. She enjoys coaching and playing volleyball. In fact, coaching is how Mrs. Wiegman first decided to become a teacher. She has been teaching for four years, and substituting for two. However, her dream job is the thrilling position of a stay-athome mom. She says that her zombie survival team would be the following individuals: her husband, brother, Bear Grylls (Man vs. Wild), Samson, and Solomon. She likes listening to TobyMac. If she could be one Disney character she would be Jasmine because of the magic carpet, Genie, and palace. Jonathan Cloud Senior Athlete During an interview, Jon Cloud disclosed insight into the world of Oasis Athletics. As you know, Jon is a senior athlete engaging in Cross Country, Volleyball, and his personal favorite, Basketball. We did worship and games and listened to three speakers: Mr. Wiggins, Pastor John, and Pastor Steve. The opportunity to listen to the multiple perspectives speak on a unified subject gave us deeper understanding. Mr. Wiggins introduced the theme for this year: It s not about me, it s about us. It s not about us, it s about them. The whole idea behind it is for us to look at the big picture, not to be selfish, but be considerate of others, and to live a life with others in mind. After worship and preaching we had free time for small groups, games, and food. We all had an amazing time. There was a nice crystal clear lake where many fellow teen Oascians swam, worked on their tans, and went down water slides and such. This year s retreat was the bomb dot com; everyone had a good time, no injuries, no casualties, and no fights. Everyone survived to live another day. So in my opinion, we had a blast the best time ever!

OASIS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY Issue # 1 4 New Happenings at OCA There are many new and noteworthy improvements to be recognized as we start this new school year. Starting with electronics, there are brand new Clear Touch televisions in the auditorium and new lighting fixtures throughout the hallways and in the rooms. In the classrooms, many teachers received new whiteboards. Speaking of teachers, OCA introduced the long awaited teacher s lounge. It has a teacher s desk to work at, a huge television, a couch, and a mini-fridge. One improvement to add onto the list is the new tile floor in PJ's room. The tile gives the room a more open, organized, and classic feel. As with anything, there are always projects to be completed and work to be done. On August 17, there was a major leak caused by heavy rain, which resulted in a hole in the roof. The poor second graders were commissioned to have class in the library. Within the next few weeks the entire school building will have a new roof and the second graders will be able to move back into their classroom.
