Shrub Form Early Flowering This group of lilacs closely resemble those of Syringa vulgaris but will flower a week to 10 days earlier. Vigorous and extremely hardy, they are perfectly suited for cooler climates. They have strong, spicy fragrances. Shrub Form Preston Lilacs Preston Lilacs flower up to two weeks after Syringa vulgaris. Buds are produced on new wood at the tips of the shoots and each produce several dense panicles. They have a light, privet-like scent.
