BARANYA LOCATION In northern Croatia, stretching along the mighty Danube and Drava, lies Baranya, a region of fertile land, unspoiled nature and rich tradition - an oasis of fine wine and gastronomy. Here, hard-working hands have been making unique gastronomic delicacies from local ingredients for centuries. These traditional recipes are still passed on from one generation to the next. TRADITION The production of kulen started back in 1905. Following a rich tradition of many cultures that interwine here, the old masters have long been manually producing Baranya kulen. Over the years the recipes and secrets of making this original Croatian product have been passed on from one generation to the next for centuries. 3
HAND-MADE From the selection of only the finest cuts of pork, to the preparation of the filling and stuffing it into a natural casing (intestine) and finally to the smoking process every piece of Baranya kulen is a hand-made product. After the maturation process which lasts for several months, Baranya kulen gets its recognizable appearance and flavour. 4
BARANYA KULEN Belje Baranjka is the biggest producer of kulen in Croatia. Its most up-to date equipment for smoking meat and controlling of the technological processes of meat curing ensures the highest quality. Baranya kulen is a product with PROTECTED GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION. 5

SMOKED BACON Smoked meaty bacon is famous and much loved by consumers due to its special flavour. Bacon is smoked on beech wood over an open fire, according to a traditional procedure applied in local village smokehouses in Slavonia and Baranja. The entire production is carried out by hand, so this knowledge that is passed on from generation to generation is exceptionally important.
