Jane has been part of the Senior Center community for over three years, but now she is moving out of state. We will miss you, Jane, and wish you the best of luck in your future adventures! Marie loves putting smiles on peoples faces and is looking forward to getting to know the seniors she will be serving. We look forward to getting to know you too, Marie. S-SAC News The Senior Services Advisory Council (S-SAC) meets monthly at the Ashland Senior Center, and serves to advise the Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission (APRC) on matters related to the Senior Services Division. This fall, S-SAC will be prioritizing the many recommendations of the 2017-18 Ad Hoc Senior Program Advisory Committee (ASPAC), which advised APRC on the senior program redesign. All meetings are open to the public and include an opportunity for public comment. Meeting agendas and minutes are posted outside the Senior Services Division office at the Ashland Senior Center and are available online (ashland.or.us/agendas.asp?ccbid=197). Recent meetings: August 13: Introduction of new Senior Services superintendent, Isleen Glatt; subcommittees formed September 9: New S-SAC bylaws recommended to APRC for adoption Upcoming meetings: Monday October 8, 3-5pm at Ashland Senior Center Regular meeting Tuesday, November 13, 1-5pm at SOU, Hannon Library Goal-setting for Senior Services Division Save the date: Monday, November 19, 5:30pm Annual Firemen s Thanksgiving Dinner

Come join the Singing Goodtimers Canceled for October, Check back for November Fridays, October 5, 12, 19, 26 10-11:30am Practice every Friday morning from 10-11:30am. All singers welcome, 18 and older. A love of singing is the only requirement. If you can t sing, we will teach you. (Anyone can sing. Just listen and believe). This is the place to have fun! Dementia Caregiver Support Group Wednesday, October 17, 5:30-7pm FREE and no registration required Caring for a loved one with dementia is one of the most difficult tasks anyone can face. Joining a support group is an important and positive step toward self-care. Support groups provide family members and loved ones with an opportunity to learn from others, receive support for themselves and hear about the many aspects of various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer s. This support group meets every third Wednesday of the month, at the Ashland Senior Center.
