CHARLES FOUST, SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS MARCH 19, 019 ACCEPT LOW BID FOR PRIME VENDOR FOR 019-00 SCHOOL YEAR RECOMMENDATION: That the Kansas City Board of Education accept the low bid from in the amount of $5,496,805 as submitted by Wayne Correll, Director of Purchasing, Dennis Covington, Chief Financial Officer, Joshua Mathiasmeier, Director of Nutritional Services, and as recommended by Dr. Charles Foust, Superintendent of Schools. EXPLANATION: Background In accordance with the requirements of Board Policy DJED (Bids and Quotations Requirements), this bid solicited contractors for the primary provider of food supplies for the District's Nutritional Services Department for a contract period of July l, 019 through June 30, 00 for a single year contract. Bids were received on February 8, 019 in the Purchasing Department Office. Bids were sent to five firms, publically advertised in the District's approved publication, and posted to the District website. Bids were received from of Kansas City and. A bid tabulation is attached. Why this is important. Food supplies are required to meet the daily food production requirements of the District's Nutritional Services Department in service of students districtwide. Strategic Framework Priority Bid competition for food commodities ensures purchase at the best available price, and addresses the priority of being good stewards of resources with financial accountability.
