Options Use different types of planting options Bare Root 600 700 per acre Container Grown Seedlings/Whips 400 450 per acre Plan A: Plant ~3.5 acres with Bare Root Plan B: Plant ~1.75 acres with Bare Root and ~1.75 acres with Container Grown Plan C: Plant ~3.5 acres with Container Grown
Container Grown Planting Will consist of tree seedling (Listed as Type 1 in contract) Weed Mats and Tubes VisPore Tree Mats (reduce vegetative competition) 4 Tall Protective Biodegradable Tree Shelters Tubes (Protection from wind, animal and other damaging agents) 1 x 1 x 4 tall oak stakes Protective Bird Netting Each acre will consist of 450 Tree seedlings with 200 -Understory Trees, and 250 Overstory Trees. 12-18 Seedling height Spacing of approximately 10 on center Costs: approximately $8,100/Acre
Bare Root Tree Seedlings Will Consist of bare root tree seedlings VisPore Tree Mats (reduce vegetative competition) 4 Tall Protective Biodegradable Tree Shelters Tubes (Protection from wind, animal and other damaging agents 1 x 1 x 4 tall oak stakes Protective Bird Netting Each acre will consist of 450-675 tree seedlings with approximately 300 Understory Trees, and approximately 375 Overstory Trees. 12 18 seedling height. Limited availability of diversity of species Requires more planting due to mortality rate Costs approximately $5,200/Acre
Signage Examples used in other County reforesting efforts:
Office of Facilities Recommendation Representative sample of all indigenous trees be planted Plan B planting schedule (half bare root, half container) Utilize contract for planting and 1 year maintenance to establish growth 12 mowing buffer from tree line to property line (1 pass of mower)
